Davies or Davis

[edit]

FreeBMD record the birth of 'Davis, John Creyghton A' [not Davies] for births registered in Aberystwyth in June 1895. The copy of the original register gives the spelling of the surname as Davis, not Davies.

I have added references to the article which appear to support the "Davis" spelling. I think we are close to being able to amend the text and move the article. I was wondering though, whether anyone has access to the Ian Buchanan book listed as a reference, and could comment on the spelling used in that source? – Wdchk (talk) 17:25, 4 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Just checked and found that Buchanan's book used "Davis" throughout . Topcardi (talk)

as does http://www.sports-reference.com/olympics/athletes/ai/john-ainsworth-davis-1.html Topcardi (talk) 23:32, 4 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for looking it up. I will set the wheels in motion to move the article. (We need to have a blocking redirect deleted first.) – Wdchk (talk) 00:19, 5 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
