Conflicting information

[edit]

I'm just passing thru reading up on some other stuff - Don't know who if anyone is monitoring this page but it conflicts wildly with the corresponding page on Frederic Godfrey Hughes regarding the Nek assault. I'm going to mention this on that talk page too. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.34.253.85 (talk) 20:38, 21 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Forced/prevented

[edit]

Antill is best known for his refusal to call off a suicidal charge on the Turkish lines at The Nek in the Gallipoli Campaign. He was forced to do so, as he was under direct orders from Major General Alexander Godley. i) Presumably we mean he was prevented from doing so ? ii) but if that's what we're saying we presumably need a citation that he sought confirmation of the order from Godley after the 2nd wave had gone. Whilst there are accounts of Brazier's argument with him at the point when Brazier sought and received confirmation of the order (Les Carlyon, John Hamilton) are there citable assertions that Antill in turn sought re-confirmation from Godley ? -Sticks66 01:32, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
