Title of article

[edit]

Here's a problem an expert user would do well to address: the title of this entry really should be changed. Only in this article is the man called "John A Butt" (in small caps, "john a butt") - everywhere else, online or offline, he is referred to as "John Butt" . A much better title for the article, therefore, would be "John Butt, musician/musicologist" .

It might, alternatively, make even more sense to call this entry simply "John Butt". The other two entries under this name are for British athletes out of distant history - the 1920s cricketeer John Hurst Butt and the 1910-ish Olympic shooter John Butt. Not that these men shouldn't have entries (or stub entries), but they are historically minor figures; I would suggest calling the first "John Butt, cricketeer" and the second "John Butt, Olympic shooter." Given that John Butt, the musician/musicologist is currently a major figure in the world of classical music, a best-seller on classical record charts, in fact, he is more likely to be the topic a user is searching for.

One or the other of these two changes is critical; I would vote for the latter. In any case, I don't know how to change an entry title so I would suggest it for editors reading this. Thank you!

I agree with you, but also have no clue how to effect such a change. Morag Kerr (talk) 21:09, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
