Religion

[edit]

While I agree that religion is in general not relevant, this should not be a dogmatic refusal to mention religion in Australian political biographies. As a Catholic Liberal premier, he is very rare (there still has never been a Catholic Liberal federal parliamentary party leader). Furthermore, his religion has influenced his politics, as described in the article. -- Mattinbgn\talk 06:45, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

At least has been now... Brendan Nelson and Malcolm Turnbull are both Cathloic. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.178.2.176 (talk) 01:58, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And Tony Abbott.... BTW, this needs a citation/ref. Where's the proof that controversy was created? Jherschel (talk) 09:55, 11 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The NSW Liberal Premier immediately before Fahey, Nick Greiner was Catholic. The Liberal Leaders immediately after Fahey, Peter Collins and Kerry Chikarovski and John Brogden were Catholic, so is the current Liberal Leader, Barry O'Farrell. In fact the only NSW Liberal Leader who was not Catholic since 1983 was Peter Debnam.
