Jackie[edit]

See Hampshires biography or ask him - he has never been called Jackie - NEVER. As I say - ask him. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.139.65.123 (talk) 22:48, 20 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Didn't Andrew Strauss get a hundred on debut at Lord's against New Zealand in 2004? Tim Fellows 10:43, 26 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You're right. I have fixed it. Tintin (talk) 04:13, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Two points[edit]

Hampshire did not play for Leiceastershire as such - I note cricketarchibe call it Leicestershire but it's a fine point I think. He played for a Leiceastershire XI in Zimbabwe which was deemed first class. He also never, repeat never, answer to Jackie. If in doubt ask him! I did!Fieldgoalunit (talk) 21:07, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Page move[edit]

I'd suggest that this John Hampshire is WP:PRIMARYTOPIC so should be moved as such. The only other John Hampshire listed is his father John Hampshire (cricketer, born 1913) who played 3 First-class games.

I'd suggest moving:

[[John Hampshire]] to [[John Hampshire (disambiguation)]]

and this page to

[[John Hampshire]]

Doing a google search for "John Hampshire -cricket" does not find anyone else notable, so no need even for a (cricketer) suffix Spike 'em (talk) 14:11, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Or even, per WP:TWODABS, just move this page to John Hampshire and add a Hat Note to reference his dad. Spike 'em (talk) 14:44, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hampshire senior played only a handful of games for Yorkshire so junior is definitely the primary topic. I see Jenks has made the change so all's well. Sad to hear that Jack Hampshire has died – I saw him play many times and he was a real crowd-pleaser on his day. Brilliant fielder, too, and a more than useful leg tweaker. I agree with the move. Non-controversial. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 17:07, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
