One of the first judges[edit]

The reference to John Hardin being one of the first judges in Washington County Virginia is unlikely. Summers Annals, which coverts the area comprehensively from 1769 to 1800 identifies no records for anyone with the surname "Hardin", He does identify several records for a "John Harding" (a variant of "Hardin") but these were for land transactions in Montgomery County. Since Montgomery County formed in 1777 at the same time that Washington County was erected, this is not relevant. TwelveGreat (talk) 19:30, 15 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hardin was appointed one of the first judges of Washington County, Kentucky, not Virginia. The article was confused on this point. Kevin1776 (talk) 11:26, 28 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
