Please add a section or statement explaining the mile markers

[edit]

I've been looking at this road in Google Street View. For a road that's less than 30 miles long, somehow Oklahoma came up with 3 digit mile markers. That makes no sense to me. Will (Talk - contribs) 03:44, 30 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Direction

[edit]

I get what Someone said about this road being signed as East-West, but the that doesn't make sense because then you are going West from the "WEST END", because that is what the sign says going there from State Route 152. Can someone please explain this to me? NintendoTTTEfan2005 (talk) 22:53, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Beltways in the United States

[edit]

Does anybody think that this highway should be added to Category:Beltways in the United States? Since this highway does form a partial beltway around OKC. NintendoTTTEfan2005 (talk) 06:55, 10 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Future

[edit]

I am a little skeptical of the proposed I-344 designation since there already exits OK-344 (Gilcrease Expressway) that is directly connected to I-44 in Tulsa. Can someone please help me understand this? NintendoTTTEfan2005 (talk) 03:56, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

OK-35, OK-40 (now U.S. 177), and OK-44 all exist despite there being an I-35, I-40, and I-44. Is there a particular reason they can't they have an I-344 and OK-344 (it may be in a manual somewhere I haven't read yet)? The only reason I was skeptical of it is because Tulsa is limited to I-X44 designations since they don't have any other interstates. The full I-240 expansion would've made better sense rather than splitting them into the two separate I-344 and I-335 proposals. TheDoctorWho (talk) 04:40, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. it looks like OK-40 is now a former designation. But for the other part of the conversation, OK-344 seems to me like it was planned to be an auxiliary route (Interstate) of I-44 considering its Southern terminus is at I-44 and I-244 but never came to fruition. If the Kilpatrick Turnpike becomes I-344, then I think that OKDOT should redesignate OK-344. NintendoTTTEfan2005 (talk) 21:35, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

So now that we know from KFOR-TV that the Kilpatrick Turnpike is about to become I-344, should there be an Interstate shield included as part of this article? --ABCUSApreacher46926 (talk) 17:04, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

We'll also need to watch newer sources in the next few months/years and determine if this article will need moved to Interstate 344 (currently a redirect here). WP:NAMECHANGE/WP:COMMONNAME would be the relevant guideline(s). TheDoctorWho (talk) 04:40, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Alright. Google Maps just labeled all of the turnpike north of I-40 as I-344 (but why just that portion?). So it seems like it will be labeled as such very soon. Also, should there be a hatnote on this page that says something like "Interstate 344 redirects you here. For the state highway in Tulsa, see Gilcrease Expressway"? so as to distinguish the two highways? NintendoTTTEfan2005 (talk) 19:17, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It may not hurt, perhaps something like:
or
? Also, given that Google Maps has added the label, it may be useful to readers to go ahead and add the I-344 shield here as well? Something like Turner Turnpike or H. E. Bailey Turnpike where both shields co-exist? TheDoctorWho (talk) 03:37, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, this will definitely do. But do you have any idea why Google maps is only labeling the part of it north of I-40 as I-344 and not the whole turnpike? NintendoTTTEfan2005 (talk) 04:29, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure honestly just because I don't know how Google updates these things. The portion from 40 to 152 is considerably newer. If Google Maps uses any sort of computer automation for things like this, it may require them to update differently? I'd assume it'll happen in time. TheDoctorWho (talk) 05:15, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well it doesn't matter now, as that remaining portion of the turnpike is now labeled as I-344 on Google Maps. NintendoTTTEfan2005 (talk) 03:30, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Added the shield as well. TheDoctorWho (talk) 05:37, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I will also note that the turnpike shields are being removed, so that should be taken out of the infobox. A yellow TOLL banner should be included with the shield as well. ChessEric 23:39, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've added it as an allocation, similar to what's done at H. E. Bailey Turnpike, Turner Turnpike, and Will Rogers Turnpike. Those three still show their Turnpike shield along with the interstate one. Should we remove it here despite them remaining there? TheDoctorWho (talk) 03:14, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
On second thought, no...at least not yet. Since there are other turnpikes that still have their shields, we should leave it alone for now. ChessEric 19:12, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Alright. I also think the Kickapoo Turnpike should also have the I-335 shield added. NintendoTTTEfan2005 (talk) 23:02, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Route Information

[edit]

Should it be mentioned in the route information that this is an auxiliary route of I-44? NintendoTTTEfan2005 (talk) 22:49, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
