Lede

[edit]

The purpose of a WP:LEDE is to say why the subject is notable, and it should do so in as few words as possible. User:Evlekis has been deliberately cluttering the lede with useless verbiage and with facts that are not relevant to the subject's notability. Kuofor is notable for the election he won, not for the one he lost! That is covered in the body of the article, along with the other details of his career; it doesn't belong in the lede. --

That lede by Evlekis passed hundreds of experts on Ghana and African politics and everyone else who cross-examined his edits. Now you're an overnight expert on John Kufuor are you? They had every opportunity to change the so-called "deliberate cluttering". Admit you never even knew who he was until a few hours ago. Evlekis (talk) 04:41, 30 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That is irrelevant. I don't need to know anything about the man, beyond what I read in this article, in order to improve the writing. -- Zsero (talk) 13:15, 30 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
And how is it better to remove factual information on the 1996 election campaign? Evlekis (talk) 15:57, 30 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
How does having lost that campaign add to his notability? Why do you imagine it belong in the lede at all? -- Zsero (talk) 17:01, 30 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is actually one of the major focal points in his professional career. Evlekis (talk) 07:30, 1 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What, losing an election? Lots of people lose elections. What makes him notable is winning one. -- Zsero (talk) 07:35, 1 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've added a second paragraph to the lede which very briefly summarises his political career, including the 1996 election. Details beyond the mere fact that he was a candidate belong in the body of the article. -- Zsero (talk) 16:59, 1 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's very good. Thanks. Evlekis (talk) 18:48, 1 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
