Identification possible?[edit]

Hello, is it known or possible that John Reid is identical with J. Robertson, according to german Philologist Felix Jacoby ("Das Marmor Parium", 2nd Edition 1904, 3rd Edition 2005, Seite VIII, Footnote 2) the writer of the "Remarks on the Parian Chronicle" (which are translated from English!) in the 1790 Edition of that Chronicle by german Philologist Karl Franz Christian Wagner (1760 - 1840)?--87.152.247.237 (talk) 15:24, 5 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It is certainly possible - he changed his name from Robertson to Reid, as we note in the article. The remarks [1] were written in 1788 when Reid would have been 67 (albeit by then, presumably, he was known as Reid and not Robinson.) I've got no more clues than that right now. --Tagishsimon (talk) 18:12, 5 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ah no. Archive.org gives the author as Robertson, J. (Joseph), 1726-1802; which would be Joseph Robertson (clergyman). --Tagishsimon (talk) 19:29, 5 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, okay, many thanks for that information.--87.152.253.186 (talk) 17:02, 6 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
