John Rook is probably among the top 10 most influential programmers of top 40 radio stations during their heyday in the 1960s largely due to his most notable local program director position-- shaping the sound of WLS, a 50,000 watt AM station in Chicago which impacted legions of teens and would be broadcasters including Rush Limbaugh (who idolized Larry Lujack who worked for John Rook-- those who recall Lujack's delivery on WLS will hear it in evidence in Rush's pacing and inflection-- something Rush has admitted publicly). Many musical acts can cite his adding them to WLS' music rotation as a big part of their chart success. I believe the previous article was more like a short bio of Rook which did not fit the criteria more in terms of how it was written than a debate on his accomplishments. I would challenge anyone who is aware of radio's top 40 history to argue that Rook should not be included.Ningueme (talk) 10:32, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I work for a prominent management company that represent a number of the artists nominated and inducted in to John Rook's Hit Parade Hall of Fame. I will challenge anyone who tries to remove this page and reach out to Wikipedia directly if necessary.Bran005 (talk) 16:55, 13 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please review Wikipedia:Notability_(music) and if you bleive Mr. Rook meets the notability requirements, provide the necessary citations. Your word alone is not enough to assure notability. I still do not believe notability has been established.Wkharrisjr (talk) 12:35, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Bran005, the fact that you work in the industry does not stengthen your case for notablility. I personaly work with/deal with/in contact with and know of several people and entities who are very prominent within the industry I work. Separate Hall Of Fame page[edit]

Hit Parade Hall of Fame[edit]

I found it curious the way the Hall operates. Each year they nominate close to 30 names, then ask the public to vote. Did you realize that they induct all their nominees each year? I couldn't even get a representative to understand and comment on this.
I also wonder why his notability should be questionned so aggressively. By people who DON'T KNOW him. Not knowing is not a basis for denying. George Slivinsky (talk) 08:42, 8 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
