Untitled[edit]

The article mentions that John Swope co-founded Southwest Airways. It correctly implies that Southwest Airways was … “a company that developed the Thunderbird Fields, which trained thousands of military pilots during the Second World War.” The name Southwest Airways has a distinct similarity with the name Southwest Airlines founded in the year 1971 (during the time when John Swope was still alive). This may lead the reader into believing that John Swope was the original co-founder of Southwest Airlines. Southwest Airlines was first named as Air Southwest, and founded by Herb Kelleher. My appeal is that we make a clarification that the Southwest Airways co-founded by Swope, has no connection to the present day Southwest Airlines. Alternatively, we could include the date when Southwest Airways was co-founded by Swope, making a clear distinction between the two (Airways/Airlines). Looking forward to your suggestions. Thanks Alpha472 (talk) 11:57, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
