He's made national news repeatedly, for god's sake. Sufficiently notable for a wikipedia entry/get over yourselves. He's at least as notable as hamsterdance/pbjtime/etc. 24.181.29.106

People Magazine[edit]

This article is not accurate. If one reads the issue of time magazine, you will see that Johnny Lechner was not named one of the Hottest Bachelors. In truth, Johnny Lechner was in a different article the followed the hottest Bachelors entitled "Men Who Need a Woman” or something similar to that. In this article he was featured with many other “loveable losers”. The legitimacy of this article should be question. Finally to prove my point if Johnny Lechner was truly named one of the hottest bachelors, why is there no citations or links proving such?


I agree with the above passage. If there is no source proving that indeed Johnny Lechner was one of the Hottest Bacholers, then it must been removed from the articel as stated by Wikipedia in the top of this page.


It repeatedly states online that he'd get a triple major/triple minor in those six fields, but which are which?

Does this sentence not quite make sense to anyone else?

Because then he does not get as much of a discount as outher in-state students. It is not HIS cost that is being covered but the cost of his education to the state. Bunnygod888 10:19, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

We need cites[edit]

66.168.50.67 has been repeatedly inserting the following claims into the article:

  • Lechner has been (only) attending Whitewater since high school graduation in 1994.
  • He was named one of People magazine's Hottest Bachelors.

I cannot find a cite for the second, and the first is specifically contradicted by the cite in the article that discusses how, after high school, Lechner attended the University of Wisconsin's Waukesha campus for a year before transferring to Whitewater. (PS - IP editor, I see that you are in Wisconsin. It doesn't matter whether you're Lechner's mother, girlfriend, best friend, or the man himself; we need cites from reliable sources for changes to the article. It's the Wikipedia way. What college do you go to?

I think so, but (assuming that you are Lechner or a friend/relative), I don't know how or whether the conflict-of-interest rules would affect this. Also, unfortunately, the FAQ page is not as straightforward as the madison.com article in the chronology, although it may be possible to rewrite the article to comply with both cites. Normally I would tend to perceive this lengthy reverts as vandalism but in this specific case it seems Mr. Lechner (if we assume it is him) just corrected information about his person. With no response from the IP editor I've undone his edits again. For the record, the cite I am basing my changes on is [1], which clearly states that Lechner attended the University of Wisconsin's Waukesha campus for a year after his 1994 high school graduation before transferring to Whitewater. That may very well be true, IP editor, but until we have a reliable source saying so, we can't go against a reliable source saying otherwise. The madison.com article specifically says:

After graduating from Waukesha North High School in 1994, Lechner went to UW-Waukesha for a year, then transferred to the 10,000-student UW-Whitewater.

Again, it doesn't matter if you are Johnny Lechner's mother. We cannot put in an edit that goes against a reliable source cite, as it would be original research which is a Wikipedia no-no. YLee (talk) 16:20, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Response to third opinion request:
This seems fairly open-and-shut; of the two positions, Ylee is correct. WP:V and WP:RS, after all. Until the material the IP editor is adding has such citations, and especially if they seem to be incorrect, they don't have a place in the article. If the anonymous IP editor keeps reverting you, administrators can assist you here. Wikipedia's concerns about biographical inaccuracy means the BLP noticeboard might end up being of use to you as well. — WCityMike 07:20, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Compromise[edit]

I've edited the article to not discuss what college Lechner enrolled at after his high school graduation. It still mentions that Whitewater is the college he is at now, and has been for many years.

I've retained my version of the second paragraph. 1) It contains the People article citation for the "Hot Bachelors" list. 2) The name of the list is "Hot Bachelors," not "Hottest Bachelors." 3) Mentioning the humorous category he and the others in the spread were listed under is important; it would be misleading to say that Lechner qualified on the same basis for the list as Taylor Hicks, Matthew McConaughey, or Jake Gyllenhaal did. Ylee, I think we've almost got things where they should end. I removed the "really need" extension on the People Magazine article. I read your above point, however, it appears as if we are spending too much time debating less important details. I have been spending the last few edits trying to clean up the information also.
