Duplicate listings[edit]

I wonder whether it is advisable to avoid duplicating joint issues under each country listing. For instance we now have the 1988 Bicentenary of Australia listed under both Australia and United States. Or should we only list a joint issue once, and if so under which country? ww2censor 18:01, 25 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I would imagine the standard usage mode is to random-access the country of interest, which suggests listing twice, otherwise only 50% chance to get lucky and find it. Alternatively, make users use "find in page" to find by country, and just list all together, perhaps sorted by year. Stan 06:30, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Based on the small amount of data here at the moment I don't think there is a problem with there being duplication in the listings, so for the time being I would just add all stamps under each country's heading and not worry about the duplication. When the list gets too long we can revisit it then. BTW, I think the Europa issues should be listed on the [Europa postage stamp] page and only referenced here as that listing will be quite long when complete. Yes, Europa is definitely a special case, should stay on its own page. I'm thinking that the total of other joint issues worldwide is just a couple hundred (not counting colony omnibuses and the like), so this list will remain relatively small compared to some WP lists. The list is woefully incomplete. For example, there are multiple "Arab Post Day" joint issues shared by many members of the Arab League annually. Another example: Israel is listed as having eight joint issues. To date, there have actually been 23. I am not enough of an expert to do a comprehensive job with this. Indeed you are correct, it seems that Europeanstamps has gone offline quite recently; certainly since Jan 1. I have been watching it but not deleting any links yet in the hope it will come online again. I emailed them to see if I can get a notion of whether they will reappear or not. Verification of title and topic[edit]

It would be nice, if someone could find a verifaction of the statement in the lead: "A joint issue is the release of stamps or postal stationery by two or more countries to commemorate the same topic, event or person. Joint issues typically have the same first day of issue and their design is often similar or identical, except for the identification of country and value.".
