Cape Editions[edit]

I am working on a table of the interesting series of Cape Editions, short books in translation, published around 1970.
Is that of interest to anyone else?

This table is nearly finished. Varlaam (talk) 19:52, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think that would be of general interest and should be added to the article if possible. Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 20:15, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The series editor turns out to be consequential, so I've been beefing up the table. I'm planning a separate page now, rather than the section I had in mind before. Varlaam (talk) 21:53, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Kids' lit?[edit]

I don't associate Cape with children's literature at all. But I do see Ransome and Dahl listed in the article.
However, I would expect this article to fall within the purview of other projects. Literary ones. And didn't they do more literary science fiction too, Ballard possibly? Varlaam (talk) 22:00, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I literally thought exactly the same thing about an hour ago. I imagined that Dahl was the main reason. I only stopped myself from starting a discussion thread (just like this one) when I saw "This article has been rated as Low-importance on the project's importance scale." Not sure if this needs any remedy, apart from perhaps the addition of some other portals? Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 22:12, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it's Low on their importance scale, but what about someone else's?
Personally I am generally underwhelmed by WP projects since to me it just means some minimally qualified twentysomething thinks he knows more than me.
For now, I want to finish what I'm doing while this is still under the radar.
Varlaam (talk) 23:34, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Tend to agree. But just watch out for the IFF! Martinevans123 (talk) 07:22, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Adding an external link to the Jonathan Cape web page[edit]

I was looking for information on the publisher Jonathan Cape and found this article on Wiki. I thought I should add a link, Jonathan Cape - About page to the current web page for Jonathan Cape because it was the closest thing I could find to an 'official link' and provided a reference to the fact that Jonathan Cape is now an imprint of Vintage Books. The link was removed as spam, but I wanted to check if it was appropriate to have this link or someother reference to this. I'm open to suggestions? Apologies as I'm just learning to edit in Wiki & it's early days still.

Thanks Jbro68 (talk) 08:22, 10 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

From WP:ELYES #1: only "the subject's official site, if any" should be included. The sticking point, for me, was "Please click here to download our latest catalogue: January to July 2012 titles"—that seems very spammy.
You might try WP:ELN as well: it's where editors who have a special interest in this topic hang out.

I understand what you mean about the spammy feel for that page. I looked at a few other related pages, such as the Jonathan Cape page directly under the Random House website, but the same issue arises - there are still direct links to their product. I'll ask the editors at WP:ELN as you suggest & see what they say. Thanks again Jbro68 (talk) 01:47, 11 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've had a response to the inquiry on the WP:ELN page, they seem happy with the link, so I'll put it back on, thanks, Jbro68 (talk) 05:43, 21 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
OK. Thanks for the patient approach. --Old Moonraker (talk) 09:23, 21 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
