I know jordans is kind of small, but if every settlement in the world had a long article on wikipedia, that would be great! One small step... TDN 15:32, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Someone changed my edit and I don't have the time or interest to delve into wiki's working and complain about it.... But if anyone cares Ozzy does not live in Jordans. He lives in Chalfont St Giles about 5 miles from Jordans..... I'd name the street but that woudn't be cool .... I grew up in Jordans, and used to cycle past Ozzy's place on the way to my summer job.

I too know the road that Ozzy lives on, I used to work in Little Chalfont and drove past it every now and again. It's one of the great wiki problems: people add someone mega famous to their village when he doesn't actually live there: according to the Beaconsfield article he lives there too! -- Roleplayer 19:48, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
He also lives in Chalfont St Peter. Boy, does this man get around! Unfortunately no mention of him in Chalfont St Giles article though... -- Roleplayer 19:53, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He actually mostly lives in the US but he does own Welders House, which is just outside Jordans on the route to Chalfont St Peter and where he got robbed a year or two back (see Sharon Osbourne#Incidents. Its nowhere near Little Chalfont. He has been rumoured to have bought another place called Stone Dean in Chalfont St Giles (which is nowhere near 5 miles from Jordans). He has owned Welders House for years, and this si the area I grew up in and retain extensive contacts, SqueakBox 19:54, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't say it was anywhere near Little Chalfont, I said I drove past it on a couple of occasions when I worked there. Now that I have looked at the map (yes I do know exactly where the house is) I see that it is on the road between Jordans and Chalfont St Peter. Can we therefore remove mention of him from Chalfont St Peter and Beaconsfield please? The poor man must feel near schizophrenic with all the claims to where he lives... -- Roleplayer 21:23, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Conflicting information[edit]

Can someone in the know clear up and restore the conflicting information below, uncovered in a recent edit. Was there 2 youth clubs? What is the status of the garden? Note that 'alleged future use' is not encyclopoedic MickMacNee (talk) 03:41, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jordans youth club After the closure of the Jordans Bowles Club in 2006, the villagers decided to replace it with a new youth club. It is set to start soon and is located behind the youth club. The land attached is intended for the site of a new communal garden, replacing the original allotments.

It has been alleged that the allotments will be moved to the nearby unused bowles court.

Making claims[edit]

Do not go claiming a move of this article is uncontroversial without seeking clarification on the talk page first. It most certainly is controversial, which is why I have reverted it. If you wish to bring about such a move please bring your reasoning here first and lets discuss. Thanks, SqueakBox 03:48, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A Google search reveals no references to the village on the first page. MickMacNee (talk) 03:55, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, i did not realise this was controversial. But doing a general search, this village is not more notable than anything else. I am not making claims. I thought another common usage was the company which makes cereal and Frusli bars.
I will put this up on WP:RM. Simply south (talk) 11:40, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Done - moved per consensus below. Note as there has been a silly amount of to-ing and fro-ing over this article, I have now move protected it. Neıl 10:53, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move[edit]

This village is not the only common usage. An example of another common usage is of a company that makes cereal bars. I am also proposing the move Jordans (disambiguation) --> Jordans. Simply south (talk) 12:19, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, as above, simply the term Jordans without any other disambiguation doen't take you to the village on the internet. In the UK the cereal bar would definitely be far more recognised than the village (I had neve heard of it and have lived in Herts previously). In America their is more likely more recognition of usage as Air Jordans. I can only think this is a Quaker community POV issue. In my mind if a disambig page exists for a term, then that term should link to that page, in fact I thought that was the whole point of disambig pages, and the (disambiguation) qualifier should only be used when needing to refer to the disambig page itself. MickMacNee (talk) 12:29, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The standard procedure is to create a Jordans (disambiguation) page and then to create other articles such as Jordans (cereal bar). There is simply no need to change the name, the reasons being offered are bad reasons. Thanks, SqueakBox 14:47, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Since when? Vegaswikian (talk) 22:53, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
As above, this reply makes no sense, and as far as I know, has no basis in policy MickMacNee (talk) 16:19, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have now added other uses template tot he article, thjis should resolve the situation. Thanks, SqueakBox 15:16, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. Clearly a village of 200 people is not the primary use here. There are scores of companies that have Jordans in the name. There there is Air Jordans. If there is a primary use here it is clearly not the village. Vegaswikian (talk) 23:00, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry you cannot claim that without pointing out some other uses, Air Jordan is not Air Jordans, for a start. You simply cannot claim it is not the primary use and offer no other even vaguely primary uses. Please argue clearly your cases, Vegaswikian. Thanks, SqueakBox 16:25, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Did you miss the fact that these are most commonly called Jordans? Air Jordan only code the product line and is used in the model name. Vegaswikian (talk) 20:19, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
See Jordan (disambiguation) re Air Jordan, which has no more place in this dispute than Michael Jordan does. Thanks, SqueakBox 16:31, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I would have no problem if Jordans (disambiguation) and Jordans redirected to Jordan (disambiguation). Might be the best solution. Vegaswikian (talk) 20:23, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - I don't see any real problem with swapping the village with the disambig page, though I do wish people would stop with the moving/edit war until others have had a decent chance to respond and discuss. -- Roleplayer (talk) 16:39, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Mayflower Barn[edit]

I have proposed to merge the Mayflower Barn article, as I don't think it is notable enough for a separate article. It doesn't seem to have a large amount of coverage, with the exception of the connection to the "Mayflower" ship, and probably only needs a section or paragraph in this article (particularly as this article only short, and is in need of expansion). —Snigbrook 18:17, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Don't see a problem with that. -- roleplayer 00:21, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose. A barn is a barn. A village is a village. A ship is a ship. All are notable, they do not have to rent space in each others articles to gain the right to exist. MickMacNee (talk) 03:09, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Support we have many aricle about communities that incorporate sections within them describing the historic sites contained within the communities. Bigturtle (talk) 13:47, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Propose move to Jordans_Village[edit]

That is the official name of the village. It is a little unusual, as it was set up only a hundred years ago. e.g.It is still used in all the official documentation86.187.231.188 (talk) 21:05, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
