I've re-added the link to Jorja Fox: Online. I re-read the external link policy and I believe the URL fits under 'Maybe OK to add', entry 3.

"Fan sites: On articles about topics with many fansites, including a link to one major fansite is appropriate, marking the link as such. In extreme cases, a link to a web directory of fansites can replace this link. (Note: fanlistings are generally not informative and should not ordinarily be included.)"

The site isn't a fanlisting, it has a repository of news articles and fairly npov viewpoints (as much as a fansite can, seeing as it's generally 'pro' actor ;) ). I would also argue that it's a major fan-site, and comes up #1 on most search engine hunts for Jorja Fox. -- Ipstenu 15:30, 13 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]


The link to Heather Reid is incorrect. Heather Reid of BBC/Scotland is not the same Heather Reid (a/k/a/ Heather Grody) that is part of Honeypot Productions. The IMBD lists three "Heather Reids" and you can find the correct one easily.

Name spelling[edit]

March issue of Calendar / LA Times?[edit]

Diastema[edit]

I recently removed the reference to Fox having a diastema as I found this to be a non-defining characteristic. The information was restored by Ipstenu, with the edit summary, "it's not uncommon, but she's reffered to as gap-toothed in a number of articles so it's notable about her, like Patrick Stewart is noted for being bald." The article on Patrick Stewart doesn't simply state that he is bald; it mentions his baldness within the context his having been voted "Sexiest Man on Television" by TV Guide in 1992, noting that this was unusual, "considering his age and his baldness." The reference to Fox's diastema in this article doesn't provide any context, so, unless it can be established that this feature is in some way notable, due to its history, its rarity, or its effect, I think it's an example of indiscriminate information. It might be worth mentioning Tim McIlrath has heterochromia, as this is sufficiently rare, but a gap between the top incisors is common enough that mentioning that a person has one would be like mentioning that they had brown hair, a hooked nose, or freckles. As for the fact that Jorja Fox has been been referred to as "gap-toothed" in published articles, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, so I think its writing should maintain a more formal tone than TV Guide or the entertainment section of The New York Post. Entertainment publications are obviously going to use descriptive adjectives to refer to celebrities, but that doesn't mean we should follow suit, even if we opt for technical descriptions like "diastema" over informal ones like "gap-toothed." The diastema information was first inserted into the article by User:Maddmattg, and, looking through some of his contribs (example 1 and example 2), I get the impression that it was added as a joke. -Severa (!!!) 12:49, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Has Jorja made comments about the diastema? In that case, it might be worth incorporating these, as it would add context. Looking at Maddmattg's contribs, I saw that the first article he made unconstructive edits to was People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, so perhaps this article was targetted by him due to Jorja's association with that group. -Severa (!!!) 11:10, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I know what you mean. Though sometimes in the noise, you actually get a bit of signal that is appropriate. Here's what I was able to dig up fast:

From a Stuff magazine article, 2002:

Growing up in Florida, Jorja Fox was overweight, with a prominent gap between her teeth. Over the years she had a variety of strange items stuck between her two front teeth, including a quarter [1] and some rocks.[2] By her twenties, neither her wisdom teeth nor braces had appreciably helped, and Jorja said "forget it." [3]

Two weeks ago Jorja said "no comment" to whether she was leaving or not. This week other reporters asked and again "no comment", now she suddenyl gave an interview to EW.com? Yahoo is quoting EW so it's really one source you've got there. Until CBS or Jorja make an official statement or Sara Sidle leaves Las Vegas, it's just gossip.Yamanbaiia 23:47, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Take a look at the EW.com story: it makes it clear that they had a discussion with Jorja herself on the topic. This is the money quote from the article:
"There are all these things I want to do. Some are personal. Some are professional. And I really need to do some of them before I get too old," explains Fox. "If I thought the show were on its last legs, I would have tried harder to stay the course. But I feel like its going to be around for a while, so if I don’t want some of those dreams to pass me by. I have to get off the ride for a while."
Seems clear enough to me. And the statement has since been picked up by the mainstream media via an article in the Associated Press. For us not to reference it would be a disservice. If it's untrue, we can correct it at that point. Tabercil 02:19, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speech melody[edit]

Does anyone have anything on her weird speech? At first I was put off by exactly this and I didn't want to watch any CSI, but now I follow it regularly. She seems to make unusual breaks in her sentences with the voice going high or low. I find this very weird, but I have to keep watching/listening. It's like not being able to look away from a car accident.Iago4096 20:35, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

I've heard that she took up smoking, leading to her once 'high-pitched' voice becoming more gravely, I guess, but that's just hearsay (from YouTube comments anyway :P ). Haven't got any further info about that. Londonsista (talk) 02:12, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Activism Recognition?[edit]

With regard to the statement: "She is annually nominated for PETA's "World's Sexiest Vegetarian".[volume & issue needed]"

Doesn't this phrasing suggest that nomination will continue indefinitely? Since it's an annual rather than lifetime honor, I suggest a rephrase or removal. Gprobins (talk) 20:29, 20 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
