Possible hoax?[edit]

Whilst usually assuming good faith, I've felt the need to flag up concerns with this article. As a New Page Reviewer I've left comments on the article creator's talk page for them to address. These are summarised below:

  • You have written this wholly in German, yet your edit summary shows you do write in English.
  • You have not created an equivalent article on German wikipedia.
  • Consecutive edits to the article on Regensburg, adding Joseph Hanisch von Greifenthal, were made by one anonymous IP address and then by your user account immediately after one another.
  • Identical edits were also made by these two accounts to the Spanish Wikipedia article on Regensburg (Ratisbona) at the same time, though not to the article on German Wikipedia. This seems odd.
  • There are no Google search returns for "Joseph Hanisch von Greifenthal".
  • There is no evidence that the image used is of someone called Joseph Hanisch von Greifenthal. (It is unnamed on Wikimedia, and a reverse image search suggests it's an unknown Victorian Englishman. The music score is in English, too, which makes his German origins as a Regensburg cathedral master somewhat unlikely).
  • All the references so far provided are sufficiently vague as to be untraceable/unprovable online. Those libraries that are online only yield results for Franz Xaver Hanisch.

I'm really hoping I shall be proved wrong in my conclusions, and will gladly apologise to the article creator if I am. Hopefully, this is just a case of WP:ORIGINAL or, better, still, a great new article being developed by a brand new editor which will shortly be translated and given proper inline citations to all stated facts. After further investigation the subject has now identified simply as 'Joseph Hanisch'. Article has been renamed accordingly. Some concerns still remain over original research, lack of inline citations, non-English language and use/title of imageNick Moyes (talk) 13:38, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Removed content from article.[edit]

For translation/conversion reason, I removed the text that follows from the article. It basically is a "more references exist" section. Theses are all places that have more information on the subject of the article, but it's not specific enough to help guide you directly to it. I have included notes about what they are in parentheses.

Biographies and portraits[edit]

  • Biographisch Bibliographisches Kirchenlexikon (Biographical Bibliographies Church Lexicon [bbkl.de/public/ bbkl.de/public/]. Seems to need registration for the online edition, might also be physical).
  • Musiker Profiling der Universität Leipzig (Musician Profile from the University of Leipzig. Physical only?)
  • Oberpfälzer Kulturbund ( Overpfalz Cultural institute oberpfaelzerkulturbund.de. Currently has a notice that the site will be back online in August.)

Bibliographies[edit]

  • Zeitschrifteninhaltsdienst Theologie der Universitätsbibliothek Tübingen (The theological periodical archive from the library of the University of Tübingen. Here it indicates that there is an article available specifically about cathedral organists from Regensburg.)

Bibliographical Catalogs[edit]

  • Bayerische Landesbibliothek Online (The original note was: Not indexed by search engines. The Bavarian State Library, but not the Bavarian State Library. I couldn't find any results from my searches - it does come up with a few, but none seem to be exactly what we're looking for.)
  • Bayerische Staatsbibliothek (The Bavarian State Library. Mostly comes up with a lot of compositions
  • Bibliotheksverbund Bayern Berlin Brandenburg (The library club of Bayern Berlin Brandenburg. I'm about 90% sure this is two separate groups, one for Bayern and one for Berlin-Brandenburg.)
  • Culturegraph der Deutschen Nationalbibliothek (Original Note: Not indexed by search engines. The Culturegraph page of the German National Library portal.dnb.de. Huge, like the Staatbibliothek search, mostly comes up with compositions.)
  • Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek (The German digital library. https://www.deutsche-digitale-bibliothek.de/ still mostly compositions)
  • Französische Nationalbibliothek (The french national library BnF. I can't find anything here specific to the subject.)
  • Hochschulbibliothekszentrum des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen (The Nordrhein-Westfalen higher education central library hbz-nrw.de. Seems physical only.)
  • Österreichischer Bibliothekenverbund (Österreichischer Bibliothekenverbund not the most helpful website for finding things.)
  • Virtuelle Fachbibliothek Musikwissenschaft (The digital library of musical knowledge Again, mostly compositions.

Removed image[edit]

I have removed this image from the article because I strongly believe it has been incorrectly named as being of Joseph Hanisch when there is no evidence to support this assertion. My concerns are outlined in the image's Discussion page on Wikimedia. I would like to be proved wrong, but believe the sensible approach is to not use the image until such time as some explanation or further evidence is forthcoming from the page creator @Sf9621:, or elsewhere.
