Only one Josip Metzger?[edit]

(oops @Peacemaker67:) ~Hydronium~Hydroxide~(Talk)~ 12:24, 28 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Per this there was a LtCol Josip Metzger who served under Franz Conrad von Hötzendorf as chief of the Operations Bureau from 1910; he was promoted to MajGen and commanded the 1st infantry. From this he was mentor to a group of younger officers. This all appears very consistent with Metzger's confirmed history/activities, however:

  • I've nothing at the moment that ties the one period to the other.
  • Age ~27 seems a bit young to be promoted to LtCol.
  • There's sources which state he was a captain in 1919.
  • Another source states that he was LtCol in 1941 (in which case he was reduced in rank -- although he was 58, so that might not be unexpected).

You mentioned at the AFD that he was in Who's Who in the NDH, p268 -- can you please assist? Thanks, ~Hydronium~Hydroxide~(Talk)~ 12:21, 28 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
