[edit]Umm... googling for "infiltration marketing" returns three results, with this very page being number three; perhaps someone who knows more about the topic should write an article? Also, this really seems like a rather good example of what I gather infiltration marketing to be. 12.107.17.179 22:05, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
- I agree that this seems really biased towards Josta and PepsiCo, especially this line:
- By leveraging its learning from Josta, a product that was ahead of the market, PepsiCo is now a leader in the fast-growing and highly profitable energy drink segment.

- I just removed that line. It's hopeless market-speak and POV. DMacks 16:15, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
I've heard from PepsiCo. employees (meaning it's a POPULAR rumor) that one of the reasons Josta got pulled was that it had an ingredient that's not legal in the US any more. NO clue how you'd follow up on that though.
AS for the marketing, I remember in the fall of 1996 a pickup with a Josta wrap on it pulled into the middle of the commons at University California Riverside, and two models in Josta bikinis started handing out free soda, as the bed of the truck was filled to the rim with ice and a few thousand cans fo the stuff. That may be what they mean. 63.95.170.150 22:06, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Who named it?
[edit]I don't know if someone from Pepsi came to know it, but "josta" is a Portuguese euphemism for "bosta" (which means "shit"). Considering that guaraná is a plant from Brazil and that Pepsi used the name "Kas" to market this product there, it is possible that Pepsi was upset with the bad publicity the product could attract for this link. 189.83.64.200 (talk) 23:15, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
-- To the above user... It's actually the other way around. There was a big fuss about Pepsi's marketing of a guarana-based soft drink, and especially about it's name. Soon, people started using the word 'josta' as a substitute for 'bosta'. --Fabiopl (talk) 19:21, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
