Did no succeed Lindsay Walters[edit]

I have found no evidence that Deere succeeded Lindsay Walters; in fact, he and Walters both were in the White House from January to April with the title of Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Press Secretary, and in fact there was at least one other person - Steven Groves - with that title, per this January 31, 2019, press release. https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/president-donald-j-trump-announces-appointments-executive-office-president-3/ .

In other words, multiple people can have this title. And this February 19, 2019 story - https://www.prweek.com/article/1526176/edelman-snags-trump-white-house-staffer - says that the the White House was looking to hire a replacement for Walters. Perhaps the point of confusion is that the February 19 article mentions Deere being promoted - but that was referring to the January 31 announcement; it had nothing to do with Walters leaving.

Accordingly, I'm removing the "succession" information in this article, as well as in the Lindsay Walters article. -- John Broughton (♫♫) 03:04, 10 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
