I am a Judge Alumni and I need to comment on this article. The paragraph below has so many problems it is hard to know where to begin.

"With the school's urban setting, Judge students are a diverse and eclectic group. Religiously diverse, the student body represents a wide range of beliefs. Ethnically diverse, more than 25% of the student body self-reports as being a minority. Geographically diverse, the school attracts students from throughout the Wasatch Front, from Ogden and Layton to Draper and Riverton, and from Park City and Jeremy Ranch to Magna and Tooele. Socio-economically diverse, more than 62% of students attending Judge receive some sort of financial assistance."

Judge's students are a diverse and eclectic group? Compared to what? Certainly not compared to other high schools on the Wasatch front.

Religiously diverse: Make no mistake this school is very much a Catholic school with Catholic themes and symbols pressed on you from every direction. We can certainly find a few non-Catholics attending, but to call it "religiously diverse" is a serious exaggeration not suitable for an encyclopedia entry. You will not find any substantial representation of Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims, Agnostics, Mormons, Jews, Pagans, etc. in this school.

Ethnically diverse: Judge mostly represents the ethnicity of Salt Lake as a whole, which entails a mostly Caucasian population with a significant Hispanic minority. Walk through the halls of Judge and you will likely only count the number of black students on 1 hand. Judge is no more ethnically diverse than the Wasatch front as a whole, and that is not very much.

Geographically diverse: This term does not mean what is implied. Calling Judge geographically diverse is saying that it is composed of a mix mountain ranges, lakes, plateaus, or other geographic features. What the article means to say is that students come from various towns in the area: that is not geographic diversity it is simply a service area.

Socioeconomic diversity: Not at all. The financial assistance the article refers to is mostly the Catholic church subsidy that many catholic parents receive from their local parishes. After that is considered, the education costs for most families are still very substantial (>8,000 dollars annually). There are a few special families that may receive much larger sums of assistance, but for the most part make no mistake that most families attending judge are upper-middle class. That is nothing to be ashamed of it just is the nature of a private high school that costs more than the University of Utah.

In summary the paragraph as a whole is misleading for an encyclopedia. If there are hard statistics to offer then that is fine, but I think this paragraph comes across a bit sanctimoniously. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bauxitedwarf (talk • contribs) 17:25, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Accreditation Link Update[edit]

The school is no longer accredited by the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools, but rather the Western Catholic Education Association according to the school's website. It appears that the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools is now owned/controlled by AdvanceED which the school lists as a co-accreditor.

The accrediting body should be updated assuming there are no concerns from others.
