Did Lopetegui play in the finals of these tournaments? Do we know he received medals? Mattythewhite (talk) 15:10, 16 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for inviting me here. No, the titles are not missing, as he: 1 - did not play one second in that season in La Liga; 2 - did not play any matches in that edition of the Copa del Rey; 3 - was not even on the bench in the Supercopa de España. BDFUTBOL wrongly gives those titles to players just because they are part of X/Y/Z squad.
So, the honours section is fine as it was. Thanks --Quite A Character (talk) 18:32, 16 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Actually not. Sorry, but your explanations are very poor, not to say that they are not valid, this doesn't work in that way, when a player is part of the squad the titles of that season are included in his honours, it works like this for any player in wikipedia,.for example Jordi Masip, he has Copa del Rey 2015, 2016 and 2017, UEFA SuperCup 2015, Fifa Club World Cup 2015 and UEFA Champions league 2015 in his honours and he wans't in the field not even in the bench in any of these titles. Search any second or third goalkepper with titles. A player does not need to have played the final of a championship for have it in his honours. Actually, Lopetegui played Supercopa 1996, missing in the article, so the answer is not valid, even if the rules really work that way, that is not the case.--87.223.155.254 (talk) 03:09, 20 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The 1996 Supercopa is a valid omission and I have now added it. Agree with the others that the rest don't apply. If what you wrote is accurate, it is actually Masip's article which is not following the conventions for honours, so I'll be having a look at it.
Reserve keepers can get the honour if they were in on the bench in the final, and some argument can be made if they played some part in the competition, but Lopetegui's input was nil, if the Barcelona physio from that time had an article would you list the honour for them? Their input would probably be have been more important than the 3rd keeper dotting in the stand, and they maybe even got a medal. Crowsus (talk) 07:26, 20 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Supercopa 1990 should also be included because Real Madrid won by default, winning the league and the cup in 1988/89 season in which Lopetegui was part of the squad as second and third goalkeeper, no player played the final so all of them should have it in their honours as player of the squad in that season, Lopetegui participated playing a full league match the previous season. And also the 1994 Supercopa as runner-ups, Lopetegui played the final. Just antoher examples Luca Zidane, Champions League 2017/18, Ederson Moraes, EFL Cup, Claudio Bravo Copa del Rey 2015, 2016. It is a rule that is not met in many articles.--87.223.155.254 (talk) 15:38, 24 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Short description

[edit]

The short description for this article formerly read

Spanish association football player and manager (bor..

in the search bar, where most people see it. I have shortened it to

Spanish football player and manager

which probably distinguishes it enough from other articles. But if it has to change, it shouldn't be so long that it gets cut off. Wizmut (talk) 21:07, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
