Does she have residency or citizenship?

[edit]

I presume she has at least the former? I couldn't find anything after a quick look on her website. Can she even be an MP without citizenship? Presume someone else could clarify that, which might resolve this question quickly by default... Ingolfson (talk) 07:23, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You must have citizenship before you are eligible to stand for Parliament. Schwede66 08:13, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
She's a dual citizen of NZ and the USA. I've added a reference (Hansard) to the article about this.--Muzilon (talk) 05:25, 30 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Lives in Auckland

[edit]

Her website (http://julieanne.co.nz/) states she's based in Auckland, and I understand that she does in fact live here. The article makes it look like she (still) lives in Wellington. A quick google news didn't turn up any newspaper / media references that could be used to clarify that. Is using her own website suitable as a reference that she doesn't live in Wellington (anymore)? 125.237.18.123 (talk) 01:35, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Now back in Wellington; article needs updating (and I won't do it as I've got a WP:COI). Schwede66 23:55, 6 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Recognised within the industry as an expert

[edit]

It is claimed that "She is recognised within the transportation industry as an expert on parking policy and the economic and transport effects thereof" with the source being a link to a profile on a lobbyist's website with a POV that aligns strongly with Green Party policy. This is insufficient to support this claim. The profile looks like a summary profile that would be included in a consultant's proposal (perhaps from her employer). The fourth paragraph doesn't mention her, but promotes her former employer. The major relevant statement from this source is that she wrote a chapter in a book about climate change and transport, but that was not about parking policy and its economic effects (although it might have been mentioned, it hardly rates as expertise). She is a transportation planner by training, but there is no evidence that she is "recognised as an expert" in parking policy and its economic and transportation effects. She is not an economist by training. There are no sources of professional journals with articles written by her which may support the claim, nor are there any references to be found online about her work to suggest her expertise is cited by others (as may be expected to receive). Indeed the best that can be found is a paper from her previous employer, with her partner as one of the authors that mentions it was "motivated" by her. [1]

Given she is a public figure, and it is appropriate to provide scrutiny over claims of politicians about their expertise, it is proposed that the entry be edited to remove this. If a journal citation could be found (and applied) to provide better evidence, then it should be reversed and that citation applied.Libertyscott (talk) 19:43, 4 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Due to a COI, I won't make substantive edits to this page. Paora, here's a source for the relocation to Wellington. Schwede66 17:58, 9 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request

[edit]

User:MW691, I think that should say "plug-in hybrid" rather than simply "hybrid". Schwede66 13:48, 26 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks very much, have done. I hadn't picked up on that in the sources, and until I read up on it just now I wouldn't have appreciated the distinction, so you've helped me learn something! MW691 (talk) 15:37, 26 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

are considered part of Genter's Rongotai electorate; Andykatib, I suggest you remove the word "considered" from this sentence because this is a simple fact. Schwede66 07:35, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks @Schwede66:, will go and change it. Andykatib (talk) 08:41, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
