1658 – Anglo-Spanish War: The largest battle ever fought on Jamaica, the three-day Battle of Rio Nuevo, began.
1944 – World War II: U.S. Navy and Royal Navy ships bombarded Cherbourg, France, to support U.S. Army units engaged in the Battle of Cherbourg.
1950 – The United Nations Security Council passed Resolution 82 condemning the North Korean invasion of South Korea.
1978 – The rainbow flag (original version pictured) representing gay pride was first flown at the San Francisco Gay Freedom Day parade.
2022 – Russian invasion of Ukraine: Russian forces captured the city of Sievierodonetsk, Ukraine, after six weeks of fighting.

Cullinan[edit]

# 1905 - Cullinan Diamond, the largest rough gem-quality diamond known, is discovered by Frederick Wells.

Article Cullinan Diamond says: "The Cullinan Diamond, found by Frederick Wells, surface manager of the Premier Diamond Mining Company in Cullinan, Gauteng, South Africa, on January 26, 1905".

France in WWII[edit]

The armistice was signed on June 22, 1940: see Second Compiègne Armistice. That page notes that the cease-fire went into effect on June 25, 1940, but the June 25 date seems of relatively minor significance to the armistice negotiation and signing itself. Thoughts? Cholera[edit]

I’ve got to admit, I only had a very quick look.

But couldn’t see a reference for for the cholera statistic on 25th June, 2017.

I DID managed to look up this link.

"no new entries without inline citations"[edit]

Hello, I just accepted a pending change because the inserted person was notable enough to have an article. If a person is notable enough to have an article, I (or anyone else) can add that person to the births or deaths list, right? However, I see that Deb (talk · contribs) has reverted some edits that seemed fine after saying that "no new entries without inline citations." I'm confused by this, so I would appreciate it if anyone can explain to me (and link me to) the policy on inline citations on this article. Thank you! Not done: Sports championships are not typically included in the day-of-year articles unless they're particularly notable for reasons other than the victory itself. (If this win is included, then all Cricket World Cup winners should be included. If all Cricket World Cup winners are included, then why not the T20 World Cup? FIFA World Cup?
