Fastest ascent of Everest

[edit]

Is there a proof for such a clame ? Sure, it is a wonderful performance, but "Jornet’s time of 26 hours from the monastery, with an elevation of 5,100 meters, to the summit of Everest, at 8,848 meters, is extremely impressive, but also difficult to compare." (from https://www.nationalgeographic.com/adventure/features/adventurers-of-the-year/2018/kilian-jornet-mountain-runner/). Also see List of Mount Everest records and, in French, Pourquoi Kilian Jornet n’a pas battu le record de l’Everest (même s’il en est capable). So Everest should be eliminated from the list of his fastest climbs, IMHO. Curero (talk) 19:30, 23 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Spanish vs. Catalan?

[edit]

Burgada's nationality was changed from 'Spanish' to 'Catalan'. I undid this, as 'Spanish' to my best knowledge is the correct demonym. Anyone disagree? /PapaMike —Preceding undated comment added 23:35, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The page has been changing different time to reflect whether he was born in Spain or Catalonia. I just updated the page to reflect both the Spanish and Catalonian origins, I think this satisfies both Spanish and Catalan editors and also is the most correct way of describing his origins./Miguelangelfa

I changed it back on account of him defining himself as Catalan on his website. Note the difference between nationality and citizenship. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.228.11.234 (talk) 03:35, 21 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree that Kílian Jornet Burgada is now or has ever been 'Spanish'. Kílian Jornet Burgada is Catalan. Kílian Jornet Burgada sees himself as Catalan. That's all that matters. Note, his website has been http://www.kilianjornet.cat/ since at least 7 November 2010 (see http://wayback.archive.org/web/20101107152027/http://www.kilianjornet.cat/ ) The opening sentence in the Wikipedia (en) entry for Kílian Jornet Burgada, therefore, ought to read: 'Kílian Jornet Burgada (born October 27, 1987 in Sabadell, Catalonia, Spain) is a Catalan ski mountaineer and long-distance runner. He is widely regarded as the best trail runner in the world'.1.120.139.47 (talk) 12:33, 14 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Adding ultra-running to the medal info-box

[edit]

I think that Kilian Jornet is nowadays more famous for his out of this world successes in ultra-running. Should we add a section ultra-running in the infobox? At least with the major races such as 100 miller (WSER, Hard rock, UTMB) and perhaps things like Zegama, Sierre Zinal, etc. NicGambarde (talk) 12:07, 27 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
