Failed "good article" nomination

[edit]

This article has failed its Good article nomination. This is how the article, as of August 10, 2021, compares against the six good article criteria:

1. Well written?: See comments below. Overuse of awkward phrasing makes this hard to salvage.
2. Verifiable?: See below. Far too reliant on primary sources from KDOT.
3. Broad in coverage?: History section is fairly anemic and skips over long stretches.
4. Neutral point of view?: Pass Pass
5. Stable?: Pass Pass
6. Images?: Pass Pass

The most pressing issue is from sourcing, but I suggest completely rewriting the route description from scratch.

When these issues are addressed, the article can be renominated. If you feel that this review is in error, feel free to have it reassessed. Thank you for your work so far.— SounderBruce 06:30, 10 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Prose comments
  • Overuse of near-exact measurements. I can count 28 uses of {{convert}} in the Route description, which is excessive.
  • "Rural farmlands" is overused and not exactly brilliant prose, nor is it grammatically correct
  • Two instances of "K-20". Is this a typo?
Coverage comments
  • Route description fails to mention the Oklahoma border, which this highway parallels for a few miles.
  • History section has a long gap between 1963 and 1994, as well as 1994 to now. That's 58 years with only one event of note.
Sourcing comments
  • Ref 2 has a bare link
  • Every citation comes from KDOT. Are there really no secondary sources available?
