Hello all. I am Kenneth Pyefinch's grandson. It was really excellent to stumble upon this article about him and I learned quite a few things about him that I didn't know. However, the "Family" section is a bit misleading. His marriage to Kate Price only lasted a couple of months. He then married my grandmother, Agnes Elizabeth Sharp, and they were together for the rest of his life. If others involved in this page are ok with this, we (myself and other family members) can complete the family section with reference to secondary sources. Or we could just delete the family section altogether, as it hardly seems to add much to the article. What would people prefer? Eystein Thanisch (talk) 08:49, 27 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Eystein. I am one of Kenneth Pyefinch’s daughters, I’d like to suggest adding further information (suitably referenced) to all sections, including the Family section.
I’d also like to remove the line “He oversaw the installation of the Pitlochry fish ladder in 1951” and the reference that goes with it (2). I can find nothing to substantiate this in the source cited, nor anywhere else; we have no knowledge of it in the family, it’s highly unlikely he would have been involved.
I am unsure about two of the FRSE proposers listed. C M Yonge and Cyril Lucas are fine. James R Matthews is, I think, more likely to be James Robert Matthews, a botanist and president of the British Ecological Society (James R Matthews is an American politician). Henry Wood will not be, as the link suggests, the British conductor who died in 1944, 11 years before KAP was elected to the society. Just possibly the Henry Wood who was Principal of Jordanhill 1949 – 1971?? Unless anyone knows or can find any different I suggest amending James R Matthews to James Robert Matthews and omitting Henry Wood.

I’ve been in touch with the RSE today. Apparently they don’t usually publish the names of those who sponsor Fellows, so it’s probably best to omit this bit altogether. As discussed above I have removed from the original article
- the bit about KAP overseeing the installation of the fish ladder at Pitlochry + reference (it's highly unlikely that he did this, the reference does not substantiate the claim, I cannot find anything anywhere else)
- references to his FRSE sponsors - the FRSE do not normally publish the names of sponsors and two of the names are not correct.
I have added further information and references to all sections, including adding dates and publishing details to the Publications section. I doubt if this is a comprehensive list, though, could be work in progress! Peg Pyefinch (talk) 20:20, 7 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Why doesn't the title of this article include given name?[edit]
Is K. A. Pyefinch the most common way of referring to Kenneth Arthur Pyefinch? While it's the way the person is named in their publications, I suspect it's not the way people referred to the person. The first reference, "History of Freshwater Fisheries Research in Scotland", refers to the subject as "Mr Kenneth Pyefinch". Is there objection to renaming the article, "Kenneth Pyefinch"?
