About Sri. Kannegowda

[edit]

Kannegowdana Koppal known as KG.Koppal which is situated in the heart of the cultural capital Mysore City. The name carried from the man who builded the village centuries ago. there’s tale about kannegowda that he helped mysuru Maharaja in 19th century to construct a well in palace.. so maharaja gave this area and named after him.. But In this village there are 10 generation old photos in some houses who lived in the same village KG.Koppal itself.. so we can consider this village was 400 - 500 years old (this matter doesn’t know by the villagers itself) You can’t find kannegowda’s photo in his own generation’s house.. they tell that their ancestors told them that there’s no photo or camera on the time of Kannegowda..

All villagers belongs to Vokkaliga community, there main work to live is farming till 1990. After 1990 the villagers land acquired by Mysore development authority MUDA and formed Kuvempunagar Ramakrishnagar, Vivekanandanagar, Sharadadevinagar, Niveditanagar, Dattagalli. After that villagers accommodate simplified life by earning rent from the buildings which was built in the land looser plots given in joint venture of MUDA. Now this village is developed as commercial junction.. there’s a railway station, Apollo hospital, District and JMFC court complex, fire station, police station all is inside this area itself.. 2405:201:D010:6164:28C0:760A:3457:A62E (talk) 09:28, 21 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
