merge proposal

[edit]

It has been proposed that all station specific articles for Bott Radio Network stations be merged into KCCV-FM. Stations which provide no local programming or other content and carry nothing but network provided programming lack sufficient notability to warrant an article. However, any station that does provide sufficient local programming or has a history (such as ownership changes) which warrants coverage, should not be merged. See WP:WPRS for more information. Any opinions, additional information on these stations or suggestions would be appreciated.--Rtphokie (talk) 16:21, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. It appears you accidentally overwrote WBGL with WCRT (AM) info; I reverted it. Note that the situation with the WCRT callsign is very bizarre: Bott station 1160 WCRT (AM) Donelson TN (FCC facility ID 25031) has a special temporary authority from the FCC to run a repeater on 98.7 as WCRT-FM1 Donelson TN (FCC facility ID 166220). That station pair is completely unrelated to Illinois Bible Institute's 88.5 WCRT-FM Terre Haute IN (FCC facility 28293), which nearly always carries identical programming to WBGL (FM) 91.7 Champaign IL. I'm not sure about other Bott stations, but WCRT (AM)/WCRT-FM1 might be notable for its almost 20 year old series of "temporary" authority on 98.7. Maybe this can all be folded in, however. --Closeapple (talk) 05:02, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OPPOSE because this station's history is its notability. Other stations that have been "absorbed" by network operations have their own articles on Wikipedia, and have withstood similar challenges from those who wish to make it difficult to find encyclopedic information on individual broadcast stations. I see historic notability as a principle that should be preserved on this service. PastorMatt (talk)
