Article name

[edit]

I have moved this article from KGET to KGET-TV. Consensus on both WP:NC#Broadcasting and Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Television_Stations#Article_names is that the article name should reflect the actual call letters of the TV station. As can be seen here: [1] the call letters for this station are in fact KGET-TV. Any concerns regarding this topic would be best addressed here: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Television_Stations. —A 09:37, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

History

[edit]

Soures say that the station was originally KJTV and affiliated with ABC when it first signed on on November 8, 1959...[2] [3] Ranma9617 04:41, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. I changed the sign-on date to 11-8-59, and McSittel's TV Guide page does INDEED show KGET's former calls and affiliation, although I'm not going to rule out a former CBS affiliation yet. I'll have to look at the KERO and KBAK pages as well to get the whole story. Gatorman 06:20, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Additionally, this source says the KBAK took ABC in the early to mid 1970's. It suggests that KJTV/KPWR possibly did carry CBS from that point until becoming the present NBC affiliate KGET(I don't know the approximate date when KERO flipped from NBC to CBS.), but I've yet to find further sources(online or off)to further back this up. If only mcsittel.com had a CenCal(Bakersfield/Fresno)TV Guide channel listing from that era(with channel 17 as KPWR)...Ranma9617 20:59, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
KPWR was most definitely a CBS affiliate at one time. It switched to the KGET call letters shortly before it traded networks with KERO (which was an NBC affiliate) in 1984. - Chadbryant 01:40, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
So this means that Bakersfield is the only market to have 2 stations that had been an affiliate of all "Big 3" networks, right?

So that iformation can be corrected, the General Managers name for KGET TV-17 is spelled Teri Riley.

WP is not a directory

[edit]

It would be best not to treat WP articles as invitations to turn them into lists of names or, in the case of radio and television, into lists of programs. See Wikipedia:NOT#Wikipedia_is_not_a_directory. Yours, GeorgeLouis (talk) 04:34, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
