Kaikola??[edit]

This caste is too similar to the Kaikolar / Sengunthar caste of Tamil Nadu. Kaikolas are also weavers by profession; they hail from Chola country; they also hold Karikala Chola as their hero.

Kaikala Padmashali Subcaste[edit]

As Kaikala are a subcaste of Padmashali weaving caste, I have rewritten the article to indicate this.

And also, in reply to the previous question, Kaikalas are not related to Kaikolars. They are weavers no doubt, but Kaikalas speak Telugu and is a Padmashali subcaste, while Kaikolars speak Tamil and is a separate caste. Rammi123 (talk) 10:28, 15 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No, they are 2 separate castes grouped under the same code in Andhra. Both Kaikalas and Kaikolar live in AP. Kaikolar/Sengunthar are not called by Kaikalas, a Padmashali caste. No, both are same caste. The word Kaikolar is locally called as Kaikalan in all south Indian languages. Kaikals in Andhra called themselves as Karikalabakthalu(meaning: worshipers of Karikala Cholan). Chola Empire is Tamil Empire. Kaikolar filled 70% of soldiers in Chola army and they also maintained Textile based occupation.

Kaikas(Kaikolar) army came to Andhra at the time of Early Chola conquer of Andhra(that time languages are not developed) so the speak Telugu.

Kaikala Army again came to Andhra at the time of medival Chola conquer of Andhra region(this period language are developed and splitted) so they sepak Tamil.

Both the Kaikal in Andhra and Kaikolar in Tamil Nadu worship Lord Murugan(skanda) as major god.

So Kaikolar or Kaikala is a same caste.

Kaikala origin[edit]

Generally Kaikala called themselves they are related to Chola Empire in Tamil religion. Many Kaikala worshipping Tamil god Subramaniya swami(Murugan) in Tirutani as kuladeivam. They word Kaikala is local pronunciation of Kaikolar. Kaikolar > Kaikolan > Kaikola > Kaikala

Kaikalas(Kaikolar) in Andhra are originally migrated from Thanjavur (Chola mandalam) to Andhra region (Eastern Chalukiya) region in midival Chola period. Tirukodimadachengunrur (talk) 09:12, 2 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
