Merger proposal

I believe that Kakinada Beach Festival should be merged with this article, as it can easily fit in the "Culture" section of this article.--Vin09 (talk) 18:49, 27 July 2014 (UTC)

Kakinada

As of now, we follow census of India 2011 as official reference. Else, any official municipality website if its population was increased by merging surrounding villages. So, as per census 2011, its population is 312,538. 443,028 is a UA population per http://www.census2011.co.in/census/metropolitan/351-kakinada.html, which is a government website derived site.--Vin09(talk) 07:47, 13 June 2016 (UTC)

Hello Vin09, I agree with your statement. Here is the link for the same http://www.dtcp.telangana.gov.in/Status_of_Master_Plan_140813-182.pdf please review. Thanks LovSLif 08:16, 13 June 2016 (UTC) LovSLif 08:19, 13 June 2016 (UTC)

The list has many UAs, I've found them earlier, couldn't remember exactly which city. But it is definitely a UA. Only Vizag is correct as per THIS UPADATED REF, as officially two municipalities were merged. The ref is useful for area and muncipality constitution and grades. We'll see if any more new references are found like for Guntur a newspaper gave good ref. Even Kakianda Municipal website prefers census 2011.--Vin09(talk) 08:48, 13 June 2016 (UTC)

Coringa

Coringa (now called Kakinada). Is this correct?

It was a large shipbuilding yard of some importance, it boasted the only wet dock between Bombay and Calcutta. The facilities were destroyed by massive cyclonic storms and tidal waves in 1787 and again in 1832.

Question, Where was this shipbuilding activity. Was it at the port or the city or elsewhere? Broichmore (talk) 17:36, 24 April 2018 (UTC)
