When this page says: "Kaminsky catalysts are based on metallocenes of group 4 transition metals with methylaluminoxane (MAO)." should this perhaps be re-worded to identify the metallocenes as the Kaminsky catalysts and the MAO as the co-catalyst? Or is it common to think of the combination of the metallocene with MAO as the catalyst itself?
The "Kaminsky catalyst" is a catalyst system, which refers to the combination of the metallocene and the MAO.Aesenadorjr 00:11, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
Yes Aesenadorjr, the metallocene is commonly referred to as a precatalyst because in itself it does not polymerize olefins at all. Peter.scott.1965 (talk) 10:25, 25 May 2014 (UTC)
