Distance from Montreal?[edit]

The article says "Kangiqsualujjuaq is located 1,688 km (1,049 mi) to the northeast of Montreal." What does this mean? The great circle distance is 1553 km (964 mi), and neither Microsoft Streets and Trips nor Google Earth could figure out any other meaning for distance. If by snowmobile or boat, how can you know it to the nearest km? It's also much closer to north of Montreal than northeast, being only 16 degrees from north.

In any event, how does it help? It's like saying Seattle is located 1540 km to the northwest of Los Angeles. Isn't there a closer point to compare it with, e.g. the northern tip of Newfoundland? --Vaughan Pratt (talk) 18:58, 11 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
