கணியன் (kaniyan) derivation

[edit]

Sorry sir. கணியன் comes from two words கணிய (kaniya) + யன் (yan). Kaniya means to calculate or to compute such as Kanini meaning computer or Kanitam meaning maths, yan is the Tamil inflection of 'he'. So Kaniyan means literally 'He who computes'. It comes under the same conjugation of கணினி (Kanini) meaning 'that which computes or calculates' i.e. a computer.

This quality of 'he who computes or calculates' could just be an அடைமொழி referring to his rationalism.

Hi Wiki team,

I was checking for authenticity of a whatsapp post that claimed "Yaadhum Oore Yaavarum Kelir" is inscribed at U.N entrance.

This lead me to this Wiki article which says it's depicted but the source link is no longer valid.

Can anyone check and update ? A photograph will be a better source.
