How about modern day Yanqi?

[edit]

I found Yanqi on Google Earth (42° 3'21.27"N, 86°33'38.66"E), and I thought I'd look it up. So I searched and was redirected here, but this article talks about an ancient buddhist kingdom, and doesn't even mention that there's a city today by that name, presumably located in the area that the article talks about. It would be nice if someone could provide a litte information about this place... :) (also, I noticed there are a _lot_ of references, but almost no text... looks really weird) --Unsound 15:09, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Date

[edit]

When did the "kingdom" exist? --Ghirla-трёп- 17:40, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

At least during the Han Dynasty. When I can find some time to spare I will try to add more detail here - just too busy at the moment. Cheers, John Hill 20:46, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merger

[edit]

I strongly suggest that the new article on Yanqi be merged with this one as both articles refer to the same town. I also suggest that it all be listed under the name Karasahr, as that is the name used by the local people - Yanqi is the Chinese name (though, admittedly, a very old one, having been in use since the Han dynasty).John Hill (talk) 23:24, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
