Notability[edit]

I'm struggling to see how he was notable. He may have been a "gifted pianist", but he appears never to have done anything with his gifts. If his name happened to be Schmidt rather than Mozart, would we realistically be having an article on him? Honestly? Take out the waffle such as "... he appreciated the amenities of the place and the wholesomeness of water. He bequeathed the house to the town, which is stated on a plaque dedicated to him. The Town Hall keeps a copy of the will. He also frequently attended events related to his father until his death in Milan in 1858", and what's left? Not much. Also, his claim to fame as set out in the lede is that he was his father's son. Unfortunately, notability is not inherited. -- Jack of Oz [your turn] 11:10, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that this article is a bit of a mess. However, according to de:Carl Thomas Mozart#Bedeutung, he contributed significantly to the original "Mozarteum" and his letters are an important source on the family's history and Mozart's reception in the first half of the 19th century. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 13:04, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
OK. So, we need to get that sort of material into this article to justify its existence. -- Jack of Oz [your turn] 13:26, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
