Attempted change on external link[edit]

I tried to change the first external link to Karmichael Hunt, but it didn't work for some reason. The present link goes to an outdated or moved page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.224.55.109 (talk) 05:13, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Biased[edit]

The Career Section is biased to his 2006 season. I know 2006 was his season where he did everything (StateofOrigin, Australia Test, Grand Final Win) but 2004 was his debut and is the right size, 2005 needs to be expanded and 2006 needs to be shortened with summarys. For example instead of everything that happened in 06 grand final, just say they won. (I will do this in a couple of days anyway). SpecialWindler 05:54, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

uncited statement[edit]

he is first cousins with team member justin hodges.the 2 of them would play footy in the backyard when they were young but never thought they would become team mates.they say they are grateful to be in that situation where they do evrything together. parents claim they are like brothers...

Whoever keeps adding this please cite it, then add it, and place a reference. Also it is in the 2004 section. Justin Hodges didn't even play then

GA assessment Karmichael Hunt[edit]

Hi SpecialWindler - thank you for your message. GA nominations are currently (normally) taking some time to be processed (around a month) because of the lack of experienced GA reviewers. So normally I would not be able to assess Karmichael Hunt for some time. However I had a quick look at it after your request and noted that it met one of the quick fail categories - based on having a clean-up tag. This means it must automatically fail (providing the tag is legitimate). I noted the tag has been up there for some edits and in fact that the article does need a careful proof-read (because it is definitely not ready for GA classification at this stage). Can I suggest that you spell and grammar check the whole article as your first step to improving the article as that will at least remove the clean-up tag. If I can help further please let me know.--VS talk 22:40, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comments

Overall, this is a good article and well referenced, but I'll put this on hold until the following points have been addressed:

  • Image:Karmichael Hunt training.jpg has no fair use rationale
    •  Done Partially, I did what I could do, before noting the uploader that I Need his help SpecialWindler 09:12, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Lead is too small. Should be around 3-4 paragraphs long for an article of this size.
    •  Done its only 2 paragraphs, a bit extended though. I think seeing that the Career section is the only really blob of info, and its not very long. It only needs 2 paras. I think those two paragraphs gives a overview of the article. If you still think the lead should be expanded please tell. SpecialWindler 09:12, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Does Hunt's early life need to be within the career section seeing that his life as a child and life in school aren't really his career in Rugby, are they?
    •  Done I changed "career" to "biography" which better suits the article. SpecialWindler 09:12, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Categories need to be sorted into alphabetical order (numbers then letters)

Other then those points it's still a well made article. Good job, just remember to contact me when you feel you've address my points - You've got a week before I'll come back anyway. Cheers. --Phill talk Edits 09:35, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A further suggestion maybe to look on Flickr for a free image (Search -> Advanced Search -> Creative Commons (tick)), Altered? (Tick) Used Commercially? (Tick). If you can't find one then try and broadening your search, for example when I'm looking for a Formula One image I usually go with specifics and then broaden it: "Nico Rosberg", no? "WilliamsF1" no? "Formula One 2006". Note that I went from Player to Team he plays for and finially to the season specifically rather then searching through thousands upon thousands of Formula One photos. Anyway, hope this helps. --Phill talk Edits 15:08, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've done most of this
Well done, thanks for addressing my concerns. I'm going to pass this article now. --Phill talk Edits 09:25, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiproject:Rugby league Importance Rating[edit]

Is this article rated mid importance because Hunt is a current Kangaroos player? If so, all other current Kangaroos' articles should be similarly rated.--Jeff79 23:13, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The importance rating system is very biased, due to different wikipedians thinking certain things are more important than others. Really the importance system is wrong, because two players basically the same won't be the same importance. There is also nothing to go on to compare, so it's really up to Wikipedians to decide what importance it is. SpecialWindler 05:20, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hence my suggesting a non-subjective criteria like being part of the current national squad.--Jeff79 06:32, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Free Picture[edit]

If anyone has a picture on Karmichael Hunt, and it is free, could they please upload, it would be much appreciated. SpecialWindler 05:20, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Personal life[edit]

I feel that this section is going no-where, I've have searched the web and cannot find too much about his personal life. All I have found is that is what is on there, so I propose

  • Move Hunt's hero is basketball legend Michael Jordan and is his fantasy to play basketball in the US. to the Early career section and reword it to say Hunt grew up with the fantasy to play basketball in the USA, with his hero being Michael Jordan.
  • Move Hunt still lives with his parents in Algester. to the 2007 and beyond section, adding it after or before the future broncos captain bit.
  • Move Hunt is good friends with Justin Hodges. to the 2005 section rewording to In 2005, Justin Hodges returned to the Broncos' and became good friends with Hunt.
  • Delete Hunt prefers to watch other sports than rugby league while watching television because it's just a useless piece of trivia.

Any thoughts. SpecialWindler 10:34, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I decided to go through with it anyway. SpecialWindler 12:08, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I should have looked here first before changing the Michael Jordan/basketball comment. I saw that the source news article used the word 'fantasy' in reference to basketball but to be honest it just doesn't read well in an encyclopaedic article. It now reads: "Hunt's childhood hero was Michael Jordan and he dreamt of playing basketball in the USA." What happened to his dream? Why did he go with league instead? I feel as though it needs expansion, eg, "While Hunt dreamt of playing basketball in the NBL, inspired by his childhood hero, Michael Jordan, his skills....." Controversy section[edit]

Karmichael Hunt was involved in an incident in Brisbane. It may not be an important aspect of his football career, but his presence at the incident was the catalyst that resulted in a court fight by media proprietors over how Australia's freedom of information laws are used. That's why it's better in its own Controversy section, rather than the 2006 career section. Regarding references, the SMH references was commentary, but it is still the Sydney Morning Herald, not just some schoolkid's blog. We had the weird situation where someone deleted the reference (saying it was just a blog), then someone else added a Citation Needed tag. The reference shouldn't be deleted. If there are not enough references, please don't delete them... instead, request more references. The SMH reference was also accompanied by a News Limited news story reference. I wrote the section in an unbiased way, without apportioning blame to Hunt, unlike the original Channel 7 stories that said as fact that Hunt assaulted someone in the incident. There's going to be more about this incident in the news, as the court cases play out in the coming months. 203.217.64.50 11:27, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The commentary in that blog is a joke. I'm not necessarily disputing its content. But just look at how it's written, with use of expressions like "who gives a toss?". Clearly it's not to be taken seriously. If it is, as you say, a solid, reliable source, then whoever wrote it has sure done a good job of fooling anyone who reads it into thinking it isn't. It's a blog. It's not a news article by a reputable journalist like Roy Masters. You'll have to find a better reference.--Jeff79 19:27, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The section has been moved not deleted, to the 2006 section. This is because it was a stub section and to be a FA you can't have stub sections. If Karmichael Hunt was a very contreversial player with many off field offences, we could make a whole section but that's not the case. OK. SpecialWindler 21:28, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Someone has removed all traces of the Freedom of Information court proceedings from the Wiki article, and replaced it with the factually incorrect line "Hunt was later revealed not to be involved in the incident, but just a by-stander." It was already stated that the Broncos Club had said Hunt had no involvement, but there is a court case going on by media organisations who dispute the Broncos version. For Wikipedia to state that Hunt was "just a by-stander" with no involvement is completely irresponsible.///Regarding the Freedom Of Information court case, the cited article was by Mathew Moore, who is the FoI editor for Fairfax Newspapers (ie, the Sydney Morning Herald and Melbourne Age). The incident has already been cited with an alternate source. The SMH reference was for the FoI part. There is a court case coming up in a couple of months, regarding this. How can anyone seriously dispute this fact? 203.217.64.50 22:18, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't change anything written in the article. But I did remove the reference to the blog. See Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons#Sources. If it's such a notable court case you should have no problem finding quality sources to reference.--Jeff79 22:24, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The following sentences: " Intense media interest has resulted in Channel Seven attempting to force Brisbane City Council to hand over video footage of the event. The incident has now become an historic legal test case for Australia's freedom of information laws" have nothing to do with Karmichael Hunt and that is the reason they were deleted, the reason I added that last sentence is because the information isn't really finsihed with those two sentences. People like to know what happened to him???, although I'm not sure if thats 100% correct, the infomartion needs to be sorted. SpecialWindler 07:29, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
To the references, you can't cite a blog because anybody could have written it, How do know that Mathew Moore is some other person named mat moore??? Remember alot of stuff on the net can be wrong. And in wikipedia's purpose, citations need to be reliable. SpecialWindler 07:29, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've changed the wording, adding a bit more. Hope that's all right for you. Remember that information not relating to the article dosen't need to be there. SpecialWindler 07:50, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There was an article written on 7 June 2007, (just a few days ago) about it. SpecialWindler talk 03:32, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
http://www.nrlnews.com/2007/06/karmichael-hunt-cover-up.html

Obviously this is a contentious section of the article and I can see from the history that a bit of effort has been made to get it right, but could I suggest some alterations to the current paragraph?

"During his injury, early in the morning on 30 July, 2006, Hunt was at the scene of a fight outside a Brisbane night club in Brisbane's CBD. The media, notably Channel 7 and Channel 10, blew the incident out of proportion, one claiming Hunt was the instegator of the incident, the other claiming Hunt squirted water on a woman. The Broncos' club denied Hunt had any involvement in the fight, though a woman gave his name to police. The council owns the CCTV footage of the incident, but when the media tried to get the tape, they were denied, leading to speculation that Hunt had something to do with the fight. However, Hunt denied having anything to do with the incident and that he was a by-stander."

I don't think you can claim the media 'blew the incident out of all proportion' without all the facts. What about, "Sections of the media claimed Hunt was the instigator of the incident and had squirted water on a woman. Although a woman gave Hunt's name to police, the Bronco's management, and Hunt himself, denied he had any involvement in the fight." And leave it at that. That sounds fair and unbiased to me. Leave all the other stuff until after the court hearing (or whatever is happening).

Please sign your comments (Florrie), I changed it a little, not exactly what you stated, but if you want to change it to what you have stated you may. SpecialWindler talk 10:37, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I know these following wouldn't be a free image, but do they qualify for wikipedia's non-free images. (Ps. I am not to knowlagebale of images on wikipedia so...)

2003 Australian Schoolboys Team Photo
2001 Under 15's Merit Side
2003 Australian Schoolboys Team Photo 2

All three photo's have Karmichael Hunt in them, they may qualify for wikipedia under fair use, because these would be the only photos of the time, especially the Under 15's one.

Any comments SpecialWindler 06:38, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

They are only free, if I ask the copyright holder for permission. SpecialWindler talk 03:33, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Florrie[edit]

A free image has been added, thanks to Florrie, good work. SpecialWindler talk 03:47, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If there is a free image of Hunt playing league (whether for Broncos, QLD or Australia, (or all three) it would be much appriciated. SpecialWindler talk 03:52, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I did that. Once again thanks for the image. SpecialWindler talk 06:11, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If anybody can find a suitable sentence to add to the first paragraph of the LEAD, that would be great. SpecialWindler talk 06:56, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Section Titles[edit]

There was a suggestion in the peer review that the section titles "2004", "2005", "2006", "2007 and beyond" be replaced with something else. Although I don't think this is a top priority for this, I was suggesting these titles "Debut season", (don't know for 2005), "Rise to the top/Career kicks off", (unknown for 2007 and beyond).

Don't know what other people think? SpecialWindler talk 22:28, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

statement[edit]

I removed this statement

Hunt still lives with his parents in Algester.<ref name="skythelimit"/>

because I felt that it didn't fit in the article, just to short. If someone can find a place to fit it, go ahead. SpecialWindler talk 02:31, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure why you went through and wikilinked every single year date mentioned. It is excessive and distracting. Refer to WP:MoS(links) for guidance. Florrie 23:09, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It was suggested in the peer review this, be done. I did it until I realised that all the years don't need to be done, just the dates. SpecialWindler talk 05:50, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

sentence[edit]

Speculation in the media led to rumours that Hunt wanted to change his mind about his alligence to the Australian team, but Hunt put those fears to rest when he later signed for a three year extension

I like the sentence, but the bolded bits aren't accurately correct, I don't know how to reword it. SpecialWindler talk 05:50, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am proposing a change to this article, which I would like either support/oppose comments on the move. The change is between the current version, and the proposal on my sandbox here. Any comments, please give me your opinions. SpecialWindler talk 09:25, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I can't immediately see the differences between the two but I wouldn't have any objection to you changing it. Whatever you do with that article turns to gold. I don't think anybody would object to this, so go for it. --mdmanser 10:02, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Rather than the way it is now (04,05,06...) my suggestion is (broncos,qld,aus...) SpecialWindler talk 12:51, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I can't believe I missed that. Definitely the second version then. mdmanser 16:53, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I was wondering how you could miss it? SpecialWindler talk 20:53, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I really like the look of the proposed format! I also like the quote boxes. The other format that someone had changed them to last week looked too wishy-washy and they seemed to dissolve into the main body of text. Have you had a play with alternating them left align, right align, just to vary it a bit? Florrie 10:45, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The version in your sandbox is a definate improvement in layout.
I don't understand though why there is a need for player stats at this site, mid-season. You link to a site which exists specifically to be up to date with player statistics. I would be all for removing current season stats from any player article, specifically to simplify / reduce maintenance overhead. I know facts can't be copyrighted but a players mid-season match stats belong "somewhere else".
If you're including mid-season stats, then include the date they are current, in the text. That way the reader knows what they are getting.
I know that opinion may well get me roasted in a sports project talk page. But in this case "which do you like more" is really an opinion-based question.Garrie 21:23, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There dosen't seem to be any major opposition, so I moved it SpecialWindler talk 06:59, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jersey images[edit]

are they necessary? this is not consistent with other player articles. Michellecrisp 00:59, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Articles don't have to be the same as others. This dosen't have to be the same as some other player. That is not a Wikipedian policy. It is called Being bold and making edits that improve the quality of the article. While they are not totally necassary, does it bring harm to the article. I doubt it. SpecialWindler talk 06:34, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I did not mean articles have to be the same but they should be similar. if one looks up at rugby league player articles on Wikipedia one should expect similar information. the use of jerseys in my opinion adds no meaning. we might as well put a photo of suncorp stadium and auckland in as well. where does one stop? can I also ask are you a fan of Karmichael, seems you do a lot of editing on this page. Michellecrisp 06:40, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm generally a fan of the Brisbane Broncos, so I suppose so. For the articles, rugby league isn't a big time sport and therefore dosen't have a comprehensive listing of players. But I suppose, you would like to expect another player to have similar things, I suppose it dosen't really add meaning, it merly shows people who like pictures and not reading long pages who he is etc. But unless you have major opposition to them, I'd like them to stay. SpecialWindler talk 08:01, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The info box is a good summary if someone doesn't want to read the whole article. that's what info boxes are for. I don't think people scroll that far down and look out for images of jerseys. As I've edited recently I also think this article is too long. Yes, it's very comprehensive but reporting almost every single major match he played in a lot of detail, Hunt is not a legend yet like Allan Langer or Reg Gasnier. and as you said rugby league on the world scale (after all this is a world encyclopaedia) is not a big time sport, so I believe world famous legends such as David Beckham or Zinedine Zidane or Wayne Gretzky or Ian Thorpe deserve that level of comprehensiveness in their article. (although I'll admit some of these articles are too long as well). Michellecrisp 08:11, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
At some time, a couple of months ago, I aimed to get one article up to FA status. I tried with Brisbane Broncos, but it failed. So I decied to do Hunt because he has only recently come into league and there would be news articles which didn't cost a fee (like old ones do). So I did a bit and I though that this version here would be OK for FA status/ I had a peer review and the only problems were 1a and 1b. 1a being prose and 1b being comprehensive. So I set out to make it more comprehensve as the FA criteria states Comprehensive means that the article does not neglect major facts and details.. So I put in everything and ended up the way it is. Now I admit it is to long because Hunt probably has 10-15 years still on his league career before a post-league career. Now add that all, based on the current comprehensive and the article would be very very long. But some Featured Articles are also quite long, see Ian Thorpe as an example. So when the article does start to get long, it should be trimmed down only have those major facts and details but for the moment its fine. Also about your note about Allan Langer and Reg Gasnier being more notable that Hunt, well of course they are, and probably will be, but why do you critise why an article is better that the other. This is Wikipedia, anyone can edit. And theres no way every match has been reported just notable ones, eg debut, 4-try match, when he got concussed, rep games, if I was to fully describe every match he played in, they'd be over 100 matches. (That took a while to write) SpecialWindler talk 09:10, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes anyone can edit, that's why I wanted to discuss my intention to trim this down. I am comparing Hunt who isn't a very notable player on the world scale getting as much comprehensive coverage as major stars that I've named. the concept of notability includes depth of coverage, if someone has received significant international coverage then coverage of their significant achievements would reflect that. Hunt would only really be notable in NSW, Qld and NZ and that would be among league supporters generally. Michellecrisp 11:05, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You shouldn't remove content from this article. We should be expanding the other articles. Note that this article has had contributors (mainly me) editing it. If someone edited the other articles just as much then wouldn't they be more comprehensive. Note that not alot of things are know about someone like Reg Gasnier. I have no doubt that Reg Gasnier is a better player than Karmichael Hunt, but that dosen't stop this article being downgraded because some other article is lacking in depth. If Wikipedia was complete, then every article would be FA status, with complete coverage etc. etc. Just because something is more notable that something else dosen't mean the more notable article has to be better than the other. SpecialWindler talk 11:10, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would only remove content if it is not totally relevant or notable as an encyclopaedia. It just seems that almost every single fact (and I'm not saying all) is listed here. the view that Hunt should be future captain was only expressed as an opinion rather than fact by very few people, and this is more speculative. I know you may argue this is citated information but at times this article sounds like glowing fan talk rather than an objective view of a player early in his career. Michellecrisp 11:19, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I suppose, what points show it is "fan talk", perhaps some examples? What facts to you are there that don't need to be, I'm just curious, because I don't see any that wouldn't pass the does not neglect major facts and details. SpecialWindler talk 11:31, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Stupid edit conflicts. SpecialWindler talk 11:31, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The discussion here seems to be whether there is too much detail in the article, and whether this is suitable for an encyclopaedia. I understand Michellecrisp's point of view that it may seem excessive to detail the (as yet short) career of Hunt; however as SpecialWindler quite rightly points out that to reach Featured Article status the page must be comprehensive. And for a player with a short career, we need to detail what he has achieved so far. Recurring dreams 11:39, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

in statistics, is implying Hunt is a major factor in all those wins (may or may not be true). it's misleading to use such a percentage (same in most team sports). If you consider how many of those games Lockyer was playing and they won it might give a better idea. or with Thurston at Qld and Aust level. Winning percentages should not be there in my opinion. it's a Misuse of statistics. I can give a similar example say Damien Martyn's win percentage with the Australian cricket team...it would be high but he was not in best form in recent years. Michellecrisp 03:01, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

True, so many things you miss, when you get used to the article. SpecialWindler talk 03:14, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Representative teams[edit]

I personally don't think junior representative teams should be in the infobox. This is not consistent with other player articles. Almost every State of Origin or international rep has played junior rep football. Michellecrisp 00:55, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps you suggest they should be in the Youth Clubs ssection. Or I can add more parametres to the template. Understand that this article doesn't have to be like other articles. While I agree with you, it dosen't really fit under Youth Clubs, but more Rep Teams. SpecialWindler talk 01:13, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
it's not youth clubs either, but I think it's adequately covered in the text, but not notable enough for info box (as it should concentrate on senior playing career). same token there are some first grade players that made Australian schoolboys etc but never made senior rep RL. Michellecrisp 01:57, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Though for those players (who played aus. schoolboys but didn't play senio league, wouldn't you want the "Australian Schoolboys" on the infobox. I might add a new subsection to the template after "Youth clubs" entitled "Representative youth teams". SpecialWindler talk 02:11, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Good idea. Michellecrisp 02:19, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Done, hope you prefer it. SpecialWindler talk 06:20, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Recent statement added[edit]

After State of Origin III, Hunt was ruled out of the Broncos game due to a thigh injury but returned the next week. is this really notable? we don't list every game a player misses through injury. only if they miss a significant part of the season. Michellecrisp 11:51, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That happened two weeks ago and I could have added then, but it wasn't notable. However he now has a bigger injury (6 weeks) which is notable enough. To make the paragraph not a one sentence paragraph I added that. If you would like to remove it, go ahead. I don't know why you are so critical though. SpecialWindler talk 12:36, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm applying a high encyclopaedic standard and the principles of notability. You can't start listing every 1 week injury he has, otherwise this article will grow endlessly. Keep it to notable events, 6 week injury is notable. If you did the same for say players that regularly get injured like Mat Rogers or Jason Ryles it would be excessive. Michellecrisp 12:45, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed the first one then, Sorry, I was autoblocked from Wikipedia and couldn't edit mainspace, only talk pages. Stupid Autoblocks. SpecialWindler talk 22:13, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Soccer[edit]

Away from NRL rugby league he has stated he is a big fan of soccer. Would that be worth a mention in an away from rugby league section. Londo06 09:58, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have a source for it? SpecialWindler talk 10:01, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If so, you can add a Personal life section, there probably is enough info, for a paragraph. SpecialWindler talk 10:01, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
He has mentioned it in articles, and he said it on NRL on Fox the other day. Londo06 10:16, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah he may have said it, but unless you can find a source, its not really going to help. SpecialWindler talk 10:18, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

notes[edit]

Just some notes for me when the 2008 season finally starts.  SpecialWindler talk  22:15, 1 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Got there eventually but now the years on the new infobox are now fixed. CorleoneSerpicoMontana (talk) 14:54, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mike Hunt[edit]

Can people please stop vandalizing this article by adding in Mike Hunt as a short way of saying his name. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.190.55.94 (talk) 02:54, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I hear his nickname is Yorick, not Mike. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.148.174.165 (talk) 18:39, 9 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

FA in need of review[edit]

This is an older FA about a living person (also, still active in his current professional occupation) that has become neglected over the years. The article needs an update to meet FA standards, specifically:

  • The references need work (a dozen bare urls in a FA...);
  • There is uncited text in the article;
  • I hope the following isn't a controversial statement, considering the five refs in a row: On 16 January 2015, Hunt, along with teammate Rob Simmons, were appointed vice-captains of the Queensland Reds.[156][157][158][159][160]. Same with On 21 January, it was announced that Hunt had signed a one-year contract with the New South Wales Waratahs.[166][167][168][169][170].
  • The lead does not wholly reflect the body of the article; there is information that's solely in the lead, and conversely, the lead does not cover his full career as described in the body. Also, Hunt was the second person (after Ray Millington) in Australia to reach an elite professional level in three different football codes. is unsourced;
  • What is with the cocaine arrest in the lead that is never mentioned again? I'd say that's WP:UNDUE for the lead. There is currently no "Personal life" section to move that into, also, the article needs the follow-up, for instance:
  • Why is his alledged sexual assault mentioned in two different sections? It does not belong in his early life section, is nobody keeping an eye on this FA to ward off passerby additions?
  • Quote-farm in his "Change of sport" section: X is quoted to have said, Y is quoted to have said... who are these people, why do these opinions matter, why those specific quotes and not others?
  • Keeping in line with recent-promoted article on a dual athlete, Erin Phillips, the personal infobox should be stripped of the 3 sports data, and that data should be stated next to each specific sport section. Otherwise it's not helping this already confusing article.

The article needs some work. RetiredDuke (talk) 10:56, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
