This article has extensive counterparts in German and Austro-Bavarian languages, in addition to the word "Kastenlauf," which has no other meanings, returning over 10000 hits on Google. Thus, it should be kept, and I will endeavor to improve it in the future (as my German improves) -Oreo Priest 14:11, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Game name origin?

[edit]

When I was young and stupid I was an exchange student in Germany (GDR), and there was this fun event with various silly competitions. There were two Kistenlauf events: individual and team.

  • Individual: You are given two kisten (crates) and you had to move from 'Start' to 'Ziel' standing on these crates only: you stand on one crate, move the second one 'vorwarts', jump onto it, grab the 1st one,... etc.
  • Team: A team of N persons have N+1 crates. All stand on N crates and pass a spare one forward. Everyone shifts one crate forward, leaving one behind. the last person grabs the freed crate and passes it forward, etc...

(And of course there was plenty of bier at any time :-)

Does anyone know anything about this anywhere else? `'Míkka 02:11, 6 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
