Series cancellation[edit]

None of the many interviews with Susan Harris indicate that the "Moral Majority" or any other such group had anything to do with the cancellation of Soap. Certainly the show was controversial, but the interview on the second season DVD indicates that the network had come to terms with that by that time. I have never seen any evidence to support the idea that the "Moral Majority" or any analogous groups pressured the network to cancel the show. Because of that, I think that sentence of the article should be removed.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.116.113.125 (talkcontribs) 05:46, 11 September 2005

Education[edit]

I removed reference to Helmond attending Bob Jones University because it is inconceivable. She is of Irish Catholic extraction, and unless someone provides concrete proof, this should claim should be taken with a grain of salt. 216.194.60.144 22:48, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cars[edit]

This article doesn't mention her work as Lizzie in Cars, and I'm not sure where to insert it.

I've added the Cars thing, but didn't want to say she did it in 2006, since the film was delayed-release. I'm not sure when they did the actual making of the film, so I did the (2006) after the name. I'm not sure it fits Manual of Style but it's the most accurate way I can do it. I moved her recent work in the late 90's to just after the Brazil paragraph, so all her acting work is together-- then it was easy to add Cars chronologically. Now all her awards/nominations are together too. Dikke poes 17:19, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Best known for?[edit]

"Helmond is best-known for her role as "Jessica Tate", the addled matriarch of the TV sitcom Soap." Do y'all really think more people would know her from that role than as Mona? Seelie 10:32, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely! That was a VERY popular/famous/controversial show in its day, and she was highly regarded on it -- probably why she got the later parts in the first place. Remember the age range of her fans. Plus Soap has been in reruns for a while now. 12.31.187.178 (talk) 20:38, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Real birth year?[edit]

This article claims Helmond as born in 1925. IMDB says 1928 and still another site says 1934. 12.46.6.69 19:41, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

1928 appears to be accepted as the correct year, although 1929 is the year given by Intelius, which gives her age, as of today's date, as 80, not 81.

More importantly, however, aside from NNDb, which is thoroughly derivative, is there any real evidence that Helmond attended Bob Jones University? I find it incredibly difficult to believe as she was raised Catholic. Rms125a@hotmail.com (talk) 22:45, 17 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Year of birth is 1929 per US census records from 1930 and Intelius, although the latter is not dispositive. Quis separabit? 22:35, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Public death notification[edit]

Why the wait of one week between her passing and the public announcement? 2600:8800:784:8F00:C23F:D5FF:FEC4:D51D (talk) 15:55, 2 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
