Location[edit]

Kawdut is near the mouth of the Kawdut Chaung and west of Lamaing. As of 31 March 2011, Google Earth mislabels the town of Mawkanin which is east of Lamaing as Kawdut. This is carried over onto other systems that use Google Earth data. --Bejnar (talk) 21:34, 31 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Editor BanyarHongSar indicates that the name of the village is actually "Koh Doot", but that is not the way that it occurs in the cited sources. I believe BanyarHongSar, and I would urge BanyarHongSar to provide sources for the "Koh Doot" name variant. I would point out that the English speaking world relies upon both the United States Board on Geographic Names (BGN) and the British Permanent Committee on Geographic Names (PCGN) for the transliteration of geographic names. The PCGN says here: "For names of populated places and features throughout the world, excluding those in the United States or the Antarctic, search the United States Board on Geographic Names (BGN) NGA GEOnet Names Server (GNS)."  --Bejnar (talk) 23:24, 31 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Note: As of 12 February 2021, Geonames.org search does not find "Koh Doot", but does find "Kawdut", and places the pin essentially correctly; however the map label is "Koh Doot". Google Earth has been corrected and now accepts both "Kawdut" and "Koh Doot" searches and correctly places the village, labeling it "Koh Doot".  --Bejnar (talk) 17:10, 12 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
