A much more detailed page about the same boat already existed under a slightly different name. Have moved content here and set that page up to redirect to this page.

Name

According to the Yahoo article, the name was Kaz 11 instead of Kaz II. Which is correct? --Chr.K. 04:57, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

I've redirected the Kaz 11 page here, and since the BBC say Kaz II I'm going with that.

Food and tableware?

In some Australian newspapers there are direct citations of rescuer Corrie Benson, who first was winched down on to the Kaz II. He does not mention any food or utensils. Further, he says the radio was not working, the opposite to what can be found in many other papers. See http://www.gcbulletin.com.au/article/2007/04/21/4645_news.html . Hard to say what source to trust, but to my mind the food on the tabel scene sounds too much as a suitable fairy tale addition by some "journalist" to make this sad story more selling. 194.100.176.76 12:52, 25 April 2007 (UTC)Jori

And yet we cannot discount the claim, just because one publication has it and another does not. The source of the tablewear claim should thus be mentioned openly in the article. --Chr.K. 12:10, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

Just because one person doesn't mention it doesn't mean that it isn't true. I say that it's in. - perfectblue 07:17, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Length of the yacht

Many newspaper and television news items in Australia are stating that the length of the yacht is 9.8 meters, rather then the 12 meters previously stated. I have made the change, but feel free to again change it. --ClEeFy 07:27, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

As the sources we as citing say 12, it's probably best that we say 12 too. I think that it's more important that we agree with the sources that we are actually using than ones that we are not.
perfectblue 07:26, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
Agreed, but, if there is an overwhelming amount of sources, which say 9.8, (which aren't being used), can we not start to cite reliable ones instead. There is no point citing an article which is on its own, than to say, cite an article which has many other articles to support it. --ClEeFy 10:27, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
Here should be a reasonably reliable source, a Police media release, last updated 20/04/2007 stating "9.8 metre catamaran KAZ II", http://www.police.qld.gov.au/News+and+Alerts/Media+Releases/2007/04/Search+continues+for+missing+men+off+Townsville.htm Solothesailor 07:56, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Does Australia have an online boat registry that we can check? - perfectblue 12:12, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
The boat registry is at http://www.amsa.gov.au/Shipping_Registration/List_of_Registered_Ships/ I have checked and no Kaz there as per today. Solothesailor 07:28, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Inquest

The inquest into the men's disappearance started on 4 August 2008. Findings from the inquest should be included when they are released. Daniology (talk) 04:38, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

As of 2010

Is there any mention of where the Kaz II is being kept or who the current owner is?Prototype Raptor (talk) 14:18, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

Not that I know of. Darkjedi10 (talk) 13:33, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
