I'd appreciate an explanation of why changing B.A. to a piped link to "Bachelor of Arts" is a good idea.

When there is an article, with multiple redirects which could also be the basename, I think it is useful to use redirects rather than piped links to get to the article. When redirects are used, then thw "what links here" button gives an indication of how often the various alternate names are used. If one of the redirects is used more often than the current basename that could be a justification for advocating moving the base article to the most popular redirect.

Using piped links strips this information from us. I regard this as a bad idea. Geo Swan (talk) 17:34, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
