Don't hate me for using section headers[edit]

"Don't hate me because I'm beautiful" which was rumored to be a possible rip-off of the lesser known "Don't love me because I'm ugly" advertisement.

minor addition to current info[edit]

added in a link to VH-1 and the number 3 to the celebrity fit club reference as that is the current season it is in.

English?[edit]

She was born in the USA of non-English parents, and has lived in the USA longer than the UK. Tmangray (talk) 02:15, 16 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed this. If she was born in the US to Canadian and French parents, she is an American citizen by birth. Additionally, she may have "inherited" (or later claimed) Canadian and/or Irish nationality from her parents. She can't have acquired any other nationality by birth or descent. It's perfectly possible that she was naturalized while her family was living in England, but even then she would have to be described as "British" rather than "English". (For the doubters, passports issued by the "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" contain the phrase "nationaliy: British citizen", even if the holder is actually from Northern Ireland). --Jimmy Fleischer (talk) 07:44, 8 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The issue here is that "English" is a national identity, not a nationality. Being born in NYC would have given her American nationality, but she presumably also had Canadian citizenship via her father. She would not have acquired British citizenship, as at the time that only happened via a British father, and not a British mother. However, the law changed in 1980 to allow acquisition of British citizenship through the maternal line, and she could have sought that status after that time, if she hadn't been naturalised as a child while living in London. It's not clear how long she was there, given that the page states she started modeling in NYC when she was 16, notwithstanding her impeccable "posh English" accent in Weird Science#. Well, if born in one place, yet nurtured in another from a early age, you can claim either as far as I know - including having a passport for that country. I was born in London, left when I was 11, as mom is Irish and went back to live there. Is there evidence of her having British citizenship? Because if there isn’t, living in England and having an English accent does not make you English if you’ve never had citizenship. Mel Gibson is not considered Australian so I don’t see why she should be Urgeback (talk) 21:19, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Last name[edit]

The article was stable as "Kelly LeBrock" from its creation in 2004 until an editor unilaterally and without a move discussion or any other consensus whatsoever changed it to "Kelly Le Brock" in mid-2015 — despite the vast bulk of WP:RS journalistic sources including The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, ABC News and People magazine all spelling it "LeBrock." This editor claimed, remarkably, that the name on one's Twitter account constitutes someone's "legal name"! He also made an uncited primary source claim about her driver's license and even the disallowed IMDb (which, ironically, spells it "LeBrock"). I've restored it to the long-stable status quo. As noted repeatedly, most recently at Talk:Buffalo Bill, Jr.#Requested move 13 July 2017, contentious article retitles that slip through without anyone noticing even for several months are returned to the long-stable status quo until a formal WP:RM is done. --Tenebrae (talk) 17:39, 13 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Contradicting Dates[edit]
