Assistants?[edit]

Does anybody if miura has any assitants to help him with "Berserk"? If he does, then how many, and since when? I'm doubtful he worked with assitants from the very beginnig. And what role do they fulfill in comparison to him working on the art (inking, background drawings etc.)? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.250.60.66 (talk) 23:38, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Virtually all manga artists work with assistants, although the early volumes usually have a smaller staff than later ones. I don't remember which volume started this, but every volume of the series now lists his editor and staff - volume 33 lists five assistants. Every manga artist has different working habits, but assistants are usually responsible for anything from mundane tasks (filling in black areas, laying down screentone, whiting out errors) to more complicated stuff like drawing backgrounds or clothing details. We don't list assistants on Wikipedia even when the information is available, but should one of his assistants become a notable artist in their own right, we could use the Berserk staff listings as a source for that. I'm not sure each and every mangaka has assitants, though. If you say that the "staff" mentioned at the end of each volume refers to assistants, that's good enough for me. I know what assistnats' roles are in general, but I would like to know if Miura's assistants have certain and specific roles (for example- Takehiko Inoue said once that he draws all of the characters while his 5 assistants draw all the backgrounds). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.250.234.198 (talk) 15:05, 25 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I know of a few artists without assistants, but they are pretty rare, and usually make a big deal about it. Riichi Ueshiba does not use assistants, for example. But so many do it is usually safer to assume they do. I haven't seen Miura talk about specific staff roles in any interviews, sorry. Doceirias (talk) 20:01, 25 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yukito Kishiro tried working without assistants for a while (when he started working on Aqua Knight, I believe), but he had some health problems and eventually asked for his younger brother's help. I'm not sure he has more assistants beyond his brother right now though.
As for Miura, there's the staff listed at the end of the volumes, indeed, and also his comments in Young Animal. He does have assistants, no doubt about it. Erigu (talk) 02:16, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: According to every source on the matter (ANN, Hakusensha, Oricon News, etc), he died on May 6. It just wasn't reported on until May 20. What source says he died on the 20th? Link20XX (talk) 15:27, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

GA?[edit]

Honestly with all the improvements and expansion this article has seen over the past 24 hours, with a bit more cleanup it could probably be made into a GA. Link20XX (talk) 02:57, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Abuse edit of his picture[edit]

I unfortunately cannot quickly grab a picture of him, but the present one on his page is one of the performer and former youtuber Joji (Filthy Frank) and since there is a (slight) resemblance, I can see why this might be a source of article abuse. But please, if any one can fix it that would be appreciated Weabooo (talk) 16:19, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for pointing this out. I have fixed it. Link20XX (talk) 17:53, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
