The existence of Kerala Congress (Joseph)

[edit]

A search in the net shows that Kerala Congress (Joseph) was a real political party which has produced MLAs and ministers. See here and here. Salih (talk) 04:04, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That is informal. Officially it was known as KC. No need to propagate unofficial names in an encyclopaedia. Karnan (talk) 06:07, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Just saying it is informal is not enough. You must support your arguments with the evidence in reliable sources. You may also visit this link WP:NOTTRUTH. Salih (talk) 14:08, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That's a good source, I agree. But, the party was known among the masses and in the published meida as Kerala Congress (Joseph). Since Wikipedia is not about absolute facts and truths, this page meets two of the core Wikipedia principles of Wikipedia, WP:V and WP:N. Best regards. Salih (talk) 04:44, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No point in asking for sources when the argument you presume to hold is irrefutable by presenting them. The last statement should have been made before I presented the source. The Legislature/ECI papers and any official Party communique are decisive. Others are misnomers. Only a redirect is called for at the most. Karnan (talk) 00:32, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think you still have some misconceptions about Wikipedia. I once again request you to go through WP:V and WP:N. Salih (talk) 05:29, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have no misconceptions about the wiki. `the party was known among the masses and in the published media as Kerala Congress (Joseph)' as a blanket statement cannot be shown by evidence. It certainly was not universally so. This particular misnomer refers to the parent party (Kerala_Congress#Splits_and_Factions_during_1973-2010), and no separate article is needed (if needed a redirect can be given, and any details given in the present article and absent from the article on the parent party can be merged there). For one, it wrongly suggests that the parent party ceased to exist from 1979 to 2010. Karnan (talk) 23:57, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It's ridiculous on your part to say that "the party was known among the masses and in the published media as Kerala Congress (Joseph)' as a blanket statement cannot be shown by evidence." Look at this Google results, there are 71,000. And there are about 100 published books say that there was Kerala Congress (Joseph) and enough number of news archives. What more evidence you need? The discrepancies you have pointed out, such as "it wrongly suggests that the parent party ceased to exist from 1979 to 2010" could be explained in the article, if you wish. Salih (talk) 05:40, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It will be a good idea to include the statement "P. J. Joseph's faction of Kerala Congress was the group that had retained the official recognition by the Election Commission of India." in the article with proper sources to avoid any ambiguity. Salih (talk) 05:48, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There is nothing ridiculous about saying that these are all misnomers without proper grounding. Many things appear in print without foundation. The links mostly are clones of the wiki article. The books are not authorities for political parties and their official names. Only the name as it appeared in election commission records is needed for deciding the title of the subject. Karnan (talk) 20:50, 22 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
While moving the page can wait until some time has been given for any interested parties to comment further, I feel it essential in the interests of clarity to reword the article to indicate that the title refers to a misnomer to a political party which was officially known by another name. I am doing so with the understanding that this is not against consensus. If not please feel free to correct the edits. Karnan (talk) 21:06, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the revision you have made to clarify the ambiguity associated with the title of the party. Salih (talk) 03:26, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Kerala Congress is a historical party it is note existing. Current Kerala Congress only have name not the legacy of Kerala Congress Found in 1964. Kerala Congress Joseph is still existing. The old name of Joseph Group Kerala Congress they have no brackets in the name. Kerala Congress (Joseph) Party orginal name is Kerala Congress. There was a error happen when naming the party in wikipedia. Shaheed Hemukalani (talk) 07:40, 20 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
