Scholarly work? Writer?

[edit]

What do academic specialists think of his work on old material such as Beowulf (Anglo-Saxon), Arthur, British & Irish folklore, and Norse myth?

The Guardian interview (External link, not cited) implies that KCH completed the first Beowulf translation, at least, before he began publicity work in the book industry, which was before he became an editor and we say "his writing career began".

Are Fellow in Poetry, U of Leeds, and Lecturer, Tufts U of London, primary occupations or sidelines while working as publicist or editor? Those seem to be several years in his thirties.

Does "writer" mean work with original material rather than translation, retelling, and so on?

A more chronological account will be useful, preferable with more dates, certainly with more care. --P64 (talk) 19:24, 10 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
