Hatkai

[edit]

February 13, 2009.

Dear Mr. Matthewvanitas, Good evening,

May I know why you have not given the title of this article "Khudabadi Script" instead of "Hatkai". The contents of the article is all about the origin of Khudabadi Script for Sindhi language. And not of Hatkai. In the education department also called it Khudabadi Script and not the Hatkai. The Khudabadi Script became known as Hatkai because, at later stage, it was mainly used by the shopkeepers.

Please guide. Thanks.190.33.27.30 (talk) 02:40, 14 February 2009 (UTC) gespee[reply]

Greetings, it is entitled Hatkai because I have been unable to find any mention of the script as "Khudabadi", aside from references written by the KSS themselves. I'm not contradicting that assertion, I'm simply noting that it would be untoward to simply accept it without clear testimony from a neutral party. www.sindhilanguage.com/script.html and www.sindhudesh.com/sindhudesh/thesindhi_matlani.html both refer to is as "Hatkai" rather than "Khudabadi". You understand that it is difficult in terms of disproving conflict of interest? Imagine, for example, that the Albanians claimed they invented eyeglasses, but the only sources asserting that were Albanian sources, and no non-Albanian scholar could be found to back the assertion. If there are clear academic analyses that show that "Khudabadi" is the accurate and preferred name of the script, that would be a reason to change it. But it's not fair to other Sindhi speakers, and curious readers, to change the title due to the beliefs of the KSS community unless neutral academic sources can be provided. Does that sound reasonable? MatthewVanitas (talk) 02:46, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
