"Tribes and communities" subheading rationale

[edit]

I filled in some basic information about the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma. Previously, the main heading was "Reservations"; however, there never was a Kickapoo Reservation of Oklahoma. There was a Kickapoo Reservation in Indian Territory for a decade, but this was broken into individual allotments before Oklahoma Statehood. Today Oklahoma tribes have "tribal jurisdictional areas" instead of reservations, with a single exception. The Osage Nation retained mineral rights to its tribal lands, which today called, "The Underground Reservation." Other than that, there are no Indian reservations in Oklahoma. Kickapoo Indian Reservation of Kansas

[edit]

I was wondering why the article says the Kansas reservation is 236 square miles, covers portions of three counties and has 6 cities within its boundaries when maps show it is significantly smaller than 236 square miles, has no cities and is located entirely within Brown County. I'd change it but I am not sure what the correct square mileage is and Kickapoo related websites don't mention how big the reservation is. Suspicious sentence

[edit]

The last line of the "History" section reads "The Kickapoo people are known for eating lots of corn." This reads like one of those random vandalism sentences. If true, could someone please cite a reference and rephrase the sentence? Otherwise, let's remove it. Canute (talk) 18:41, 11 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. I took it out. Smallchief (talk 18:46, 11 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

There was no discussion created for the split proposal, but yes, please feel free to create an article for Kickapoo language as opposed to the current redirect to Fox language. This doesn't seem like the type of action that requires discussion anyway, so I'd say go for it. Yuchitown (talk) 14:30, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
