I reverted the copyvio addition. I actually think this page (along with navy bean and pinto bean) should be a redirect to Common bean which should discuss all the common varieties. -- WormRunner | Talk 17:54, 10 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

differences in nutritional content[edit]

What are the differences in nutritional content between the different varieties of kidney bean ? Also, Is there a difference in nutrients between cooked and uncooked kidney beans? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Leningrad (talkcontribs) 17:17, 4 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Red beans used in red beans & rice are not kidney beans[edit]

Who wrote this? Kidney beans and red beans are different. Red beans and rice is traditionally made with red bean, not kidney beans. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.56.38.226 (talk) 02:27, 31 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

OK to use cooked values?[edit]

The nutritional info box shows values for uncooked beans, but since the usual way to eat them (which is how nutrition affects people) is to eat them cooked.

It's a non-controversial change (in my eyes) but it will take a few minutes work and I had bad experiences recently with long-time editors instant reverting anything by newbies, so I thought I'd clear it here first. Great floors (talk) 15:41, 27 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

And,indeed, the uncooked beans are poisonous! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.215.113.238 (talk) 13:46, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Etymology of 'cannellini'[edit]

It would be interesting (and an improvement to the article) if some knowledgeable person could explain the origin of 'cannellini' (as applied to these beans). Nick Michael (talk) 12:39, 27 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Bad Bug Book update[edit]

I have removed a reference to the first version of FDA's "Bad Bug Book" along with the "five fold" potentiation claim. I made a few google searches to find a source for any potentiation, but the best I could find was this unsourced SE post. Given that the FDA has removed the claim, I think it makes sense for us to remove it if we cannot source it. - trysten (talk) 10:33, 19 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
